regarding Due South. it comes to my attention that the character's name is spelled "Benton Fraser". what interests me is the "Fraser" part. it is frequently mispelled on the internet to include an "i", either "Fraiser" or "Frasier" (clearly the latter is more common) and i think it's due to how they pronounce it on the show. i've been told that Albertans tend to make their "s" sound more like "sh", therefore, we pronounce "Fraser" as "fray-sure" or "fray-zure" (this is true... it *is* how we pronounce that word). in Vancouver, there's a street by that name and they pronounce is "fray-sir" and they get alllllllll uppity on you when you pronounce it "fray-sure" because their feeling is that "fray-sir" = "fraser" and "fray-sure" = "frasier". isn't that interesting? and while Paul Gross was born in Calgary, i don't think he lived here long enough to pick up the accent... so... i dunno where i'm going with this... just pondering. ^O^
