Well I just got back from my S.E.B. and Senate retreat yesterday. Regardless of the severe lack of sleep, it was a lot of fun. We all went out to dinner on Wednesday night and I rode in a car with some others since we ran out of Siena vans, and my group ended up getting their a couple minutes later than everyone so we sat at our own little "cool table" in the back. When we get their they start bringing out our appetizers and we got some wings and salad....figuring they would stop their...2 minutes later out come these gigantic platters of deep fried EVERYTHING....and we're all like uhhh we're eating dinner too. They bring out our massive dinners and overall everything they gave us per person could feed an entire family of four. So we all felt absolutely disgusting after and I feel like my attempt to go to the gym the day before was absolutely worthless. I'm gonna have to drag myself down their again.
After dinner there was a party for all of us but they needed an hour to set up and get supplies in between dinner and the party. I was gonna go but since I don't live on campus, that makes it a pain to find somewhere to go and chill in the meantime....so I ended up hanging out w/Chris, Kevin, and Tom and we all ended up skipping the party since we didn't feel like walking all the way over to the townhouses in the freezing cold. Regrardless, I still had fun with the other guys because they are some of my favorite people. We made up a game called Good Will Drinking and goofed off with Chris's camcorder and spend the rest of the night screaming at eachother (long story). I ended up getting back home and into bed that night around 3 and had to wake up at 6am the next day to leave for the retreat...it was rough. Then I got yelled at for skipping the party the next day. haha.
The retreat was fun, I met and became close with a lot of awesome new people. I'm finally starting to feel like the person I was in high school at Siena...floating around and being friends with all different groups and being comfortable hopping around from table to table to sit and talk, eat, etc with all different types of people. Thats exactly what I ended up doing throughout the whole retreat and it's what I missed. I also learned an awesome new game that I'm gonna have to teach everyone called Mafia....even though I'm still pissed off that I never got to be the Mafia. We spent the rest of that evening watching and quoteing Napoleon Dynamite....which I have already seen 3 times and still feel like it's over rated and they only thing redeeming about the movie is quoting all the one-liners. A bunch of the guys refused o let me go to to bed that night since everyone wanted to go to bed early after being out late and up early the night before....they said that this is my only on campus experience and that I have to stay up and hang out with them. I figured that regardless of how exhausted I was, how could I pass that up. So I ended up being up til around 3 watching Eurotrip. When I ended up getting to bed, I hopped in and saw that my bed was shakey....so I turn the corner into the boys wing where a few guys were still up and was laughing hysterically about how my bed can't stop shaking and I didn't even do anything! Keiloch came and fixed it because he's my hero.
We ended up getting woken up via megaphone at 7:30 after yet another late night. As Chris put it "getting woken up at 7:30 is bad enough, but waking up to Sess's voice, now that's the worst." That morning, I did a godaweful job at making my bed since I truely am domestically challenged. So this really flamboyant (yet hilarious) freshman named Figgy went and took apart my bed and re-did it for me....and just about everybody else too. That kid is also my hero. We left early that afternoon and I went home and tried to take a little nap since I was gonna go out to Massachutsets that night to see Ryan's band play.
So then last night, me and Britt headed out....I never again will ever trust mapquest....I guess they like to put streets on maps that don't even exist. We were seriously driving around lost for at least 45 minutes.....we ended up in Conneticut, taking a nice little joyride around downtown Springfield, and going God only knows where else! Luckily Ryan's gf was from the town they were playing at and her dad was really good at directions and helped me get back....even though I had to do about 5 u-turns while on the phone with him! Those hate those damn rotaries they love so much over in Mass.! Oh well...we finally got their. Ryan's new band is now hardcore for the most part...def not what I was expecting...they still had a few more emo songs which were amazing and more what I was used to. We also saw this one acoustic guitar guy called The Highway Beautiful who was excellent. We went back and hung out at his girlfriend Mel's house for a while that night with a bunch of people they knew from school and stuff. Everyone was super cool and I definately wanna go out and visit them all out by Boston sometime in the spring semester! As we were leaving, this absolutely gorgeous guy who I haven't seen all night starts talking to me in Mel's foyer as we're getting our shoes back on. He must have heard me telling stories of where I ended up while lost and started saying "so you were driving around downtown Springfield huh..." We started talking and he seemed like a really cool guy and then he ended up asking for my number. Maybe I'll try to get his sn or something from Ryan but grrr he seemed perfect but lives over in Springfield! Cupid really does hate me!
