The Sky

At my house in Brownsville there was a huge Best Western built behind my house. It imposed on our space by our sheer size and the rinky dink fence between us provided no privacy whatsoever. I was washing dishes in the kitchen and was looking at the hotel from the kitchen windows while Mirannda played with something outside on the picnic table. It was the evening, we all just had dinner, and the lights from this new building blazed through our house. Suddenly I noticed the sky; it was so beautiful with so many bright colors. Fusia, cyan, hints of yellow. It was a nebula! Upon realizing what it was I saw a shooting star strike through the center of the sky. I tried pointing at it through the window to signal to Mirannda to look at it. She didn't get to see it but I did. I went outside to stare at the amazing sky. It surpassed all the things on our planet; the trees, our garden, the Best Western. Staring at it was like staring at a different dimension. A different way of life.
