This was definitely my favorite in the trilogy, probably mostly due to Will and Lyra's relationship. I completely agree with everything you said!

I thought there's going to be a great battle scene. but as battle scenes go, it was pretty tame. (there's too much tolkien love there, i suppose.) nevertheless, i love the series and can't wait for the movie.
