chapter 34

Mar 26, 2006 14:35

Sami dashed down the streets, up the stairs of Central Headquarters, down the halls, and threw the door to General Mustang’s office open.

Everyone of it occupants looked up.

“Sami? Welcome back!” Jean waved. The rest of the members agreed with him.

“Yeah, thanks!” Sami waved running up to the next door in the back of the room, not bothering to knock -he was her daddy, he’d forgive her - and threw open the door.

Roy looked up startled.

“Sami?”

“Daddy! Oh my god!”
“What is it?”

“I got promoted!” She screeched.

Roy was silent, and she just stood there waiting for his reply.

The pair heard some scraping chairs, meaning everyone else outside the smaller room had heard -since she hadn’t bothered to close the door- and now were trying to get a look at the General’s face.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Roy smiled. “Congratulations, sweetheart. I’m so proud of you.”

“Thanks!”

Roy nodded. “Now then, Lieutanent Colonel Mustang, sit down. There’s something I would like to discuss with you.” He motioned to the chair in front of his desk. When she sat, he called through the open door. “Colonel Hawkeye, please?”

Sami turned in her seat to watch Riza enter the room holding an envelope.

“Now, Sami. Some things to discuss.”
“Okay…?”

“First, let’s not set the school of fire this year, okay?” He said with a small smile, as the teen in front of him turned a light shade of pink. “Second, stay away from the boys. They’re no good at this age. Trust me. I don’t want you getting hurt, or pregnant. You’re not allowed to date until you’re 25, and finally, -Riza, just what is so funny?”

The blonde woman shook her head. “Nothing sir. It’s just…Sami?”

“Daddy, I’ve already been on a date. I can handle the boys. I’m the daughter of the Flame Alchemist and the Fullmetal Alchemist! They boys are scared of me!”

“You’ve already been on a date?” Roys eyebrow twitched.

Sami nodded. “Yesh sir, but I don’t think you were done listing things to me?”
“Ah, yes,” Roy said quickly. “Colonel..?”
Riza stepped forward and handed over the folder to her.

Sami took it, and opened it, both Roy and Riza watching her.

“ Lieutenant Colonel Sami Mustang is to engage in a battle assessment versus Major Elysia Hughes on September- That’s this weekend!” She cried looking up.

“I suggest you get some rest.” Roy said from behind the desk. “ I was once in a battle assessment…My opponent was…well, no time for that story. But cleaning up was crazy.”
“Who did you fight?”
“Your Papa.”
“You fought Papa?”

“He was like twelve…”
“That’s even worse!” Sami cried, starting to laugh.

“It was amusing none the less,” Riza added. “But seriously Sami, remember the mess the two of you left when you were thirteen? Both of your skills have greatly improved…”
“Say no more, I know.” Sami grinned. “This is going to be one hell of a fight.”
“No objections here,” Came Jeans mutter from outside the office.

The three occupants of General Mustangs private office laughed lightly.

“I’ve yet to see your alchemy, you know?” Roy said to his daughter.

Sami grinned, a glint of excitement in her eye. “Oh, it’s worth waiting for.”
