Sami grinned. “Really? You’ll see what you can do? You’ll send me somewhere?”
Riza sighed. “I suppose…Your Papa was all over the country by the time he was your age. I guess you could go somewhere.” She moved to her desk and pulled out a file. “I actually have a good idea.”
“What?” The girl asked.
“This file was sent in for Edward, it’s a bit of a continuation from his teenage years. The newly rebuilt Ishbal needs to be checked up on. Someone needs to be sent out to see if everything is okay and all. But since Ed is obviously not able to go, his daughter will go in his place.” Riza held out the file.
“Really?” Sami breathed. “I get to go on a mission..?”
The older woman nodded.
“All by myself?”
“I’m afraid so.”
“Cool!” Sami cried, throwing her fist up into the air. “Thank you so much Riza!” She threw her arms around the woman. “When do I get to leave?”
“As soon as you want. All expenses are paid for, at least the train rides there and back, that is. You’ll need to tip into your military account for lodgings, food and any other expenses…”
“Got it!” She stopped. “How long should I pack for?”
“Two weeks.”
“Okay!”
“And when you’re ready to leave, you just set this paper,” Riza took the file ut of the girls hands and opened it to the first page, “-signed…Onto my desk and we’ll know you’ve left and the mission is being taken care of.”
“Okay, sounds eas enough.” Sami grinned at her commanding officer and turned to leave, when Riza stopped her.
“Sami,” She called. “Please…be sure to read over that paperwork.”
“I will.” She nodded and left the room.
When break came around she practically ran up to Elysia at their table in the corner of the cafeteria. “I’m going on a mission!”
Elysia looked up wide eyed. “For how long?”
“Two weeks!” She grinned. “Why?”
“When are you leaving!”
“I hope to leave tomorrow..”
Her brown haired friend jumped out of her seat. “OH MY GOD!” She screamed jumping on her friend to embrace her.
People we’re watching this scene from all over the room now. Including Sami’s parents, who both arrived at headquaters shortly after their daughter had stormed out of the house.
Roy and Ed looked at each other. They had heard nothing but ‘Oh my God!” out of the conversation and were only able to see their movements. All they saw was Sami hlding out a file, saying something to Elysia, then Elysia jumping on her giving her a hug-which is how the two remained currantly.
“Wonder whats up..” Maes asked.
Ed shrugged.
“Sami has a mission.” Riza said sitting down next to Maes, across from the fullmetal and flame alchemists.
“What?” Roy asked, now looking at the blonde woman directly across from him.
“She asked for a mission. Something about needing to get away from home for a while, and I remember how it felt to be kept at home, while everyones going off on missions aroud her- Elysia’s been on one before,to-“ She added in Maes direction. “But I never let her before. So I decided she was old enough.”
“She’s not old enough!” Ed cried.
“Shes older than you were when you began going around.”
“I had a good reason.”
“So does she.”
Ed glared at Hawkeye. “Where’s she going?”
“Ishbal.”
“Ishbal?” Both Ed and Roy cried out.
“Relax, it’s completely different there. It was rebuilt, so shes not going to the middle of no where…someone just needs to check up on the town. This was originally your job, Edward. But I doubt you’d be wanting to go out there?”
Ed sighed. “Yea, your right…”
Riza noticed both men and relaxed a bit but neither were exactly calm either. Maes was just watching, as if it were a television show..some form of entertainment.
“Look, Have either of you seen your daughters alchemy?”
“Now that you mention it…”Roy muttered. “I’ve only seen her gloves.”
“I haven’t.” Ed stated.
“What about you?” She turned to Maes “You seen Elysia’s alchemy?”
“Elysia’s a state alchemist!?”
Riza mirked. “Apparently not. Yes, your daughter is a state alchemist.”
“I just thought she was part of the military! I didn’t know she could do alchemy!”
“Yes, she can Maes.”
“I’m going to have to ask her about that..”
“You do that.” Riza turned back to Roy and Ed. “ I have seen it though. And trust me, she can take care of herself. She is your daughter….And,” She added. “With how angry she is at both of you right now, I wouldn’t want to be in the same house as her. I suggest you ask Jean about what happens. She has Edwards temper…it’s just not as easy to set off.”
The men around her nodded.
“You know, I’ve got an idea.” Riza said softly. She rose from her seat.
“What?” Roy aske dher. “What is it?”
“A battle assessment.”
“What?” Maes asked. “Between who..?”
“Elysia and Sami.” Ed muttered. “You’d really put them up against each other?”
“They used to spar all the time… They haven’t done it in a long while though… I’ve got to go speak to Elysia’s commanding officer. See you boys later!”
Once the blonde woman had left the room, Ed sighed.
“Having that baby sure lightened her up.”
“Not completely..” Roy replied. “But it did.”
“ I think it’s a good change.” Maes added.
The men nodded.
A battle assessment between the Full Fire and Water Crystal Alchemists…. Could prove to be interesting.
….even if none of the men knew Elysias title.
