Well, I managed somehow to not post for two days. Whoops.
Just a few things I really have to talk about, I guess:
1. I saw this movie called Two Guys and a Girl. I wanted to see it because it had Robert Downey Jr. in it, and, as I think I mentioned a few weeks ago, I love him. The summary seemed maybe interesting: two girls stand outside their boyfriend's apartment, waiting for him, and then figure out that they're waiting for the same guy. They decide to wreck him. See? Maybe interesting. Except, just...no. It has to have the distinction of being the worst movie I've tried to watch in a long time. The writing was terrible, the direction was atrocious (all the [gratuitous] close-ups included the dreaded slow push-in, which should really be saved for dramatic scenes in soap operas. Not for every close-up ever) and...there was just nothing good about it. Robert Downey Jr. waltzed in about half an hour into it, singing, but then every other word out of his mouth was incredibly crude, and...it just didn't make sense. I actually turned it off--I only managed to suffer through about 35 minutes of it. TERRIBLE.
2. I haven't been reading as much, which saddens me, so I finally finished Rebel Angels and am starting on the last book of the trilogy. Unfortunately, it's over 800 pages long. So, though I want to read Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips (suggested by Audrey Niffenegger on The Time Traveler's Wife forums) and then Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility and then maybe Pride and Prejudice, I have to finish this 800 page behemoth first.
3. Why must I always fall in love with series that continually get longer? Seriously. It's slightly annoying. The Twilight series has a fourth novel coming, goddammit!
4. Mike Birbiglia's new stand-up tonight! Last night Elyse and Angie and I went to Laura's theater where we saw stand-up--none of whom was Mike Birbiglia, but just reading the signs on the wall was fun. Mike was there not that long ago, and I almost went, but there was some miscommunication between me and Laura, so I didn't make it. But at least I wasn't like those poor fools who showed up last night with tickets to Daniel Tosh's (sold-out) show on 02 Feb 08, not 08 Feb 08.
5. Mandy had an original story nominated for an award!
Because of You, nominated at
Some Kind of Wonderful. I'm so proud!
