Today's Lesson Was...
Stuff I learned today:
- No matter how early you woke up the day before or how early you went to sleep last night, the second the alarm goes off you just want to go back to sleep.
- Stalling so you don't seem too ridiculously early never, ever works.
- There are people out there who are not partiers and I could be friends with and can talk easily with.
- The best thing I should do for the cold, being from the south, is pray.
- No, really, I should: wear thick down coats, wear scarves over my nose and mouth and wrap 'em around a lot, wear mittens instead of gloves, stay inside at all times, don't go to class if I have hacking coughs (or leave if the professor asks me to), drink hot hot chocolate (especially from Dunkin' Donuts), don't stay inside all the time because I should get out and do something, remember that the wind is a killer, LAYERS! ALWAYS LAYERS!, and, of course, pray.
- Wet leather smells bad.
- If you decide to sit around all day and just give in and watch your Firefly DVDs because you're never, ever going to get cable, the cable people will show up.
- Oh, also, if you write notes on your RA's door every time you go out reminding him that you are a TV major and you don't even get all the broadcast channels, he will appear at your door and try to fix it.
- The crapload of stuff Jeni brought last Wednesday was not actually all of her crap, but I'm not quite forced out of the room yet.
- First impressions over e-mail are not always true. Jeni is actually really nice and I was a lot more comfortable around her than I am around Sam. Plus, she's homesick, which I can relate to.
- I swear, I am the only person who is prepared for school--no one knows what the CHATS are, and NO ONE knows about Connections.
- Bravo is the best network in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD. First there was a PR marathon and then there was THE EMMYS. Which I forgot about last night. I didn't watch all of them, because I had to leave for my next chat, but I did see Conan's opening montage thing. And then later I saw the tribute to Aaron Spelling.
- I spend too much time in my head--in other words, I kept thinking about asking this other girl next to me what her name was but I totally never did.
- Chicago is saturated with improv--good and bad, but always cheap.
- If you think someone looks like J.J. Abrams, and then are disappointed when he doesn't sound like JAbrams, and then someone else mentions that he reminds them of Kevin Pollack, he suddenly doesn't look like J.J. at all anymore and he's suddenly Kevin Pollack and could be no one else, ever.
- It is fucking cold walking towards the lake with the wind hitting you and rain pushing your hood away. In August.
- I really am in trouble with this whole cold thing.
- Mail is awesome. Netflix is awesomer.
- Felicity rocks my socks off.
- "Only cream and bastards rise."
