Birthday, Pseudo-Faux Birthday and daydream come true

Jul 19, 2009 19:53

I've been 25 for almost 2 weeks now. I flip-flopped back and forth as to whether I was going to take the day off or not. Colin approved it weeks ago, but I had taken 2 days off the previous week so money was an issue. But talked myself into it, and slept in until 8. My dad called me at 8:34 (the time I was born) to wish me happy birthday. I spent most of the day reading an awful, awful book (a dirty Bible book!) and cleaning/organizing the apartment. Basically just all around enjoying a day to myself. Then my dad took me out to Applebees for dinner, and Mandie and Autumn tagged along which was fun. A nice, relaxing day.
Saturday was my Pseudo-Faux birthday. Had a very enjoyable party with friends: Mandie, Katrina, Autumn, Kenny, Jeremy, Tiffany and Jay, Misty and Sara and Kirstie. There was lots of laughs and stories. And we totally freaked out Misty and Sara with our extreme noisiness I think. :-) We played this completely awesome game called....Compatibility? One person has a word, and you lay out cards of pictures or words to associate with the word, and see how many matches you get with the original person. Pretty awesome. We had people over for almost 5 hours, which was very fun but tiring. It was my people quota for the month week.
Then Monday was my birthday party with my family. I piggie-backed on my cousin Gracie's birthday since it was the only day my mom and Valeena could make it out. Familly...is tiring. Much more so than friends. I didn't get to see my mom much, since she always needs to pay extra attention to my grandma. And even though I was eating dinner with my parents and Autumn, suddenly I was alone eating with some of my uncle's family that I don't even like,  and I couldn't leave the table gracefully. Oh well. Everyone was in a good mood which was relaxing. And I got banana cream pie. Mmmmm.
Wherein I recount my giftees:

I think that's it. I have another package in the mail from my mom, not sure when it'll get here. So, an awesome birthday. :-)

Friday night my dad and Autumn and I went out to see Duffy Bishop in concert. Me, outside, on purpose, for two hours. On the ground with no blanket. Anyway. Before the show we saw Duffy wandering in the crowd and went up for a hug (she and her husband who is in the band know us by name) and she sat with us a few minutes before the show started. The show was freaking awesome. She is just...amazing.
So the last number starts, and Duffy says, into the microphone with 400 or 500 people listening: "We'd like to dedicate this song to our dear friends Merrit and his daughter Maria. This song is in honor of Elliott, who has been gone for two years. This was his favorite song of ours." *jaw drops* It was amazing. We got hugs afterwards, even from Chris (the husband) and it was just amazing.
Daydream come true. Not really a dream, but basically anytime I go to a show I daydream about my ticket being called so that I get to go on stage and meet the artist. That part didn't actually happen. But it was close.
Running out of updating steam.
But feeling pretty good. :-)
