Part 386B of why I'm angry all the time

I'm also thoroughly unsurprised that, just like various SFWA writers demonstrated six years ago, there are people who think the big problem is that someone pulled back the curtain on ass-showing.

I'm glad to see that that there seem to be some people on the list (based on the tumblr) who seem to at least be trying to put out that fire.

Six years ago? Harlan Ellison?

Of course, if I want to boil my blood I read the excuses about Ed Kramer. I'm still disturbed that there are people on FB who are friends with him.

Having had an ex who was a sexual abuser and who was later (I found out through the grapevine) fired from a retail job because he sexually harrassed someone, I can tell you that they (and the people surrounding them) work on a totally different wavelength from the rest of us.

They seem totally normal, but when they get you alone, they're terrifying. If they approach you with people around, they have the ability to make YOU look like the liar, like something is wrong with you, and that THEY are innocent, that they are the victim.

When I read posts where people are trying to protect the real victims, I am always so thankful.

I have only been harrassed once in a writing environment (screenwriting) and it was a horrible experience. I can only imagine what it's like for other people.

There were indeed multiple opportunities to stop the harassment, by, you know, stopping. Walling could have stopped at any time.

I love the first one on that list in which the greatest offenders are defined as the people pushing for harassment free cons.
