sucking in north salem
i went 1-6 minus a gazillion in north salem yesterday. being that this was my first really shitty tournament, i'm not that upset about it. being that i ended up as the bottom seed in d2, i had an easy shot at hitting 1200 for albany, but it didn't happen. not even close.
it would be far too depressing to write up all these games, so here are the basics: i had four blanks all day. two were drawn late in the only game i won, and i went out playing DeISt. i played five bingos in seven games. yes, i was playing people considerably better than myself, and yes, my word knowledge is total shit, but i really don't feel that i played that poorly...i just didn't draw well (at all), and there was little that could be done to rectify this. of course, i made a few plays that were not so hot, but that isn't anything new.
but...i've played a few tournaments now and was due for something like this, and at least it happened when there was not a lot of rating loss at stake. i'm almost glad i had the experience, and dealt with it somewhat gracefully. besides, i really like corny's tourneys, it was a very nice group of people, and, all in all, it was a nice day. time to get my shit together for albany...
