this is such a long fucking entry.

i hope it takes up SO MUCH SPACE on everyones friends lists.

So, I’m sitting in my room, listening to the Refreshments, and I’ve got my fan blowing a nice breeze. I can’t help but sit back and smile. Everything has been going so well for such a long time. I’m completely caught off guard by the whole thing. See, I’ve always gone through a rotation of emotions; for a few days or a week I’d be a happy camper, just completely thrilled to be alive, and the next week I’d be a wreck. The happy periods always seemed to be a lot shorter than the sad ones, until recently. I don’t know whether it started with going to see the Faint, or getting the courage up to ask Kyle to come to my prom, but my life has just been going so well lately. The weekend before last, I went to a party and had an amazing time. I met a bunch of new, really cool people and of course I partied hard.
Last week was my final week of high school. I had a take home final for AP Physics, and Mr. Whitman told me that John(my test partner) and I got a 95 on it. My english exam went well, as did my Statistics final. Well, actually, the stat final had a slight glitch. I didn’t know that there was a free response part of the test, so when I finished the multiple choice, I handed in my test and left. Thankfully I finished in 15 minutes and had nowhere to go. When another kid finished, he came to the library, which was where I was waiting for the next exam period to start. He said, ‘Yeah, I had trouble with the free response part.’ My face just dropped. I thought he was kidding! So I freaked out, and went to tell my teacher what happened. She told me to get back to the exam room and finish it. there were only 15 minutes left in the period, but there were only 2 problems and I did them both in 10 minutes.
After the math test, we had foreign language. See, my final Spanish assignment was to read this novel and I have a lot of trouble reading if I cant read quickly. When a book is in Spanish, I have to go slowly and look up words frequently. Basically, I gave up on the book. Too bad for me, the entire final was on the book. I don’t think I got higher than a 10 on that exam. I’m sure my teacher’s disappointed, but I just ran out of steam for that class. I put up with it for 4 years and I think I put in my fair share of hard work.
After my last day of exams, we had the Senior Awards presentations. I was given the Award for Technical Drawing. I was so flattered. Mr. La Duca was one of my favorite teachers and I’m so glad that he chose me for that award. I also got a plaque for participating in a Varsity sport( VOLLEYBALL!!), an award for Art, and a $100 scholarship for being in Drama Club for 4 years.
Friday night was prom. I was a nervous wreck all day. I had to clean my entire downstairs and I wanted to put my hair up, but I just couldn’t seem tog et it to look the way I wanted, so I left it down. I was ready for about half an hour before Kyle got there. His mom came along too because she wanted to see her son in a tuxedo. She made him get a tux, and she even got the corsage and boutonniere! The corsage matched my dress perfectly. We took a bunch of stupid pictures and felt like fools. Then we got into Kyle’s car and drove to my moms. She was going to let us take her Miata because Kyle’s roof leaks and it was supposed to rain, but she surprised me by giving me my graduation present 2 days early.
She had just finished cleaning up my Nissan when we got there and I got to take my new car to prom. That was only the first surprise. Turns out that Bre and Kate had been lying to Abby and me all month. Bre went with Kate! I was so surprised that she was actually coming with us. I was flipping out! We got in the car and headed to Abby’s after tons of pictures. Sarah even made it there to see me in my dress, all dolled up. Abby was a bit pissed because we were late getting there, but we had group pictures taken in her backyard. I was so excited because she brought Brian and dumped Jeff’s sorry ass. Then we all stopped at Amanda’s and said hi before heading to Belmar. We got there and Sonya and Mark were wearing duct tape outfits. Sonya based them off of the Wiz(the ghetto version of the Wizard of Oz). They looked so good.
When we got inside, I found out that since so few seniors went on the Senior trip, we used our left over money to buy each of the seniors a set of prom pictures. There’s a set of the couple, the girl and the guy. Each one has 2 5”x7” and 8 wallets. We did all the “hey, I love your dress/you look so nice/ oh my god!” crap for a bit. I even gathered up my courage and told Kim that I thought we should put all that stupid crap from last summer behind us, and she completely agreed.
The dance part of the night was pretty fun, and Sophia was chosen as our Prom Queen. It was so cool, but it was sad because she didn’t pass English so she can’t walk at graduation. Poor girl, I feel so bad for her. Anyway, after they announced all the prom court, we all left and headed back to Abby’s. This time only Kate came with Kyle and I because we had to pick up John. We had to make a bunch of random stops, and by the time we got to Abby’s people had already started drinking. We jumped right in after we changed. We played beer pong, First Mark and I played Abby and Brian, and we lost. Then Kyle and I played them and lost again. Even though I hadn’t had much to drink I was completely gone. Basically the whole night was people coupling off and there was a lot of fucking going on. Sonya kept telling Kyle and I to kiss and get it over with. We didn’t we stayed up all night and talked to DJ and each other. When everyone else went to sleep, that’s when we kissed. I got tingles, even though he wasn’t the best kisser.(More on that later)
We finally left Abby’s around 10. My kneecap was completely numb, and it felt so strange. By the time I got home it hurt so badly. Saturday was spent relaxing, pretty much. I drove my car around a lot because I was so excited about having a car. I drove Cory home from work and forced Kate to wake up at 3. We drove to Strauss Auto where I bought air freshener’s. I got smiley faces and Amy Brown fairies.
Then I had my first night of work with my mom. They have a dinner cruise business where they take their customers out on the yacht and anchor the yacht and serve a really fancy dinner. Kate’s been waitressing for them since last summer and they need another girl, so I was the obvious choice. I was so nervous at first, but as the night wore on, I got a lot more comfortable. It’s a good job, and it pays better than Wawa, but there aren’t necessarily a lot of guaranteed hours so for now I have to stay at the Hell hole. The only thing that sucked was my leg. It hurt so intensely that I took 4 ibuprofen and it hardly helped at all. Oh well, my first night wasn’t at all bad. Afterwards we went to the diner with John, who is officially dating Kate. They’re so cute together its ridiculous.
On Sunday, my mom took the family to Chevy’s for my graduation lunch. I drove Kate and Colin and I found out that it costs less than $20 to fill my gas tank which is excellent. Our waitress made up a graduation song for me and I got a sombrero. She was a really cool chick. After Chevy’s Kate and I picked up our pay from the parents. Including tip, we each made $80. Then I had work for 4 hours at Wawa. I t was sheer torture, only because my leg was feeling worse than ever and I had to use it a lot, in ways that made it hurt. It was such a long shift.
When I got home Kyle called me, and after we talked for a while I went and rented Garden State and brought it to his house. I met his smallest brother, Brian who is 3 years old. He is the cutest little boy. He tried to come with us to watch the movie, but he had to stay with his mom. I met his grandma too, and she said to me, ‘I heard you wore elegant white gloves!’ Kyle told his family all about it. It was really adorable. We got to use his grandma’s friend’s house to watch our movie because no one uses it on the week days and they have a key, so we had a bit of privacy. Halfway through the movie he started tickling me. I’m such an idiot because I always admit that I’m extremely ticklish, forgetting that it seems to inspire the listener to test it. I’m not making it up, I really am ticklish, there’s no need to try to prove it.
At one point Kyle’s other brother, he’s 15, came over and just kind of hung out with us. I wanted our privacy, so being the subtle person that I am, I hold this conversation with Brett.
“So, Brett, did your mom send you over here to spy on us?”
“No..” says Brett
“Oh! Well, then, can you leave?”
I am the queen of subtleties. Oh well after much persuasion, Brett left and Kyle and I finished the movie. At that point it was about 12:30 and I promised my dad I’d be home early since I had graduation practice early the following morning. As I’m leaving, Kyle’s mom makes me promise to call when I get home so they know I get there safe. She’s such an awesome lady. I think she’s just happy that her son is spending time with a girl. Especially since I’m so amazing, hah. Anyhow, I got into my car and Kyle had to ask that awkward question, “So, what are we now..” I said, honestly, that I didn’t know and I left it at that. I went home smiling. I kind of like him.
So, today we had graduation practice and I’m officially walking with Mike Molner, who wasn’t there! So I had to walk by myself. I felt like a tool. I’m sitting right next to Kim though, so I at least have someone to talk to. The first half of our morning was spent sweating in the gym. Then we were given an hour break, in which Bre and I picked up some iced coffee at Dunkin Donut! It was so amazingly good. The second half of grad practice was at the field. Somehow, it was even hotter there. We were done by 11:30 though, which was good. I made this comment about a kid in my class, who’s a real prick to EVERYONE. He was wearing a shirt that said TATTOO across the front, so I turned to Bre and I said, “What the hell? He would only ever get a tattoo is it was like (pause to think for a second) BEER!” Bre laughed so hard I’m surprised that she didn’t pee a little.
After Grad practice, I went home and took another shower because I was so sweaty and uncomfortable. Then Kate and I went to Green Planet so I could see Sammy Squared and see if Steve could give me a job there. He wasn’t there right then, so I’m going to write up a resume and bring it back tomorrow. I need to get out of Wawa, I really hate working there. I love the people, but I despise my job. Oh, I was supposed to work today but since my leg hurt so much., I had to call out. I’m going to see an orthopedic doctor on Wednesday and on Monday I’m going to see a neurologist. I’m scared that something’s going to be seriously wrong.
After we left Green Planet, Kate and I went to Target so I could buy sunglasses since we’re going to be facing into the setting sun at graduation tomorrow and my favorite pair broke. I found a pair of white ones, which are so similar to my green ones, but they were $20, so I splurged and bought them. I got a new bra as well, which was thrilling. Then we headed back to the boat to finish putting away dishes from Saturday night’s dinner cruise. After that we just went back and relaxed at the parents for a while. We watched the live feed news broadcast of Michael Jackson getting acquitted on all counts. That is such bullshit.
I was so bored and starting to feel restless, so Kate and I drove to Best Buy to look at car stereos, The guy was really helpful, and I found one I could afford, specially since they offer free installation until Friday! I called my mom to ask her if I should buy it, and she told me that Sarah was planning on getting me one for graduation. I called Sarah and She was so pissed that Mom blew the big surprise, but I’m happy as can be! We’re going on Thursday night to pick one out and get it done.
After Best Buy, Kate and I drove to my Uncle Frank’s house because I wanted to show them the new car. I was telling Bunny that I’m getting my tattoo in about 2 weeks at dark Star and Frank asked if I made an appointment because Richie(tattoo artist) fills up pretty fast. I told him I hadn’t yet. He got on the phone that minute, and called Richie. He made me an appointment for June 28th at Noon. I’m so nervous. It feels like I’m doing something illegal because I’m not 18 yet and I can’t be doing things like getting tattoos, but I will be! Frank is going to come with me, and Bunny’s going to come by on her lunch hour. I love them so much.
Everything is going so well for me right now. Kate has a new boyfriend Abby’s finally dating the good guy, I’ve got a thing going on sort of. I graduate tomorrow night. We have grad practice again in the morning but this time, we get breakfast and that’s awesome. We also get our caps and gowns and tassels. I get gold tassels because I’m in National Honor’s Society. Everything is happening so fast! By this time tomorrow night I will officially be a high school graduate. I’m still in shock. Wednesday morning I’m going to OCC for freshmen orientation so I can register for my classes for the fall. It looks right now like I’m going to have class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the middle of the day. 10-4 at the latest.
Everything is just so perfect right now that I’m waiting for my doctor’s appointments to find out that I have some sort of terminal illness. It would counter balance the good things quite nicely. I’m actually jus going to try to ignore that though and concentrate on everything positive. For now I think my 4 pages of bullshit are enough.
