Rockband Live: Halloween Show Review
A Review in Pictures, videos, & Commentary
Fairfax, VA

All pictures & videos were taken by me. I don't mind sharing, but please let me know if you're taking any. If you want color pictures of the black and white ones, just let me know.

Before concert shenanigans
The show was at my sister's university, George Mason, so I met up with her and a couple of livejournal friends, merriberrirocks and mikikoshikawa. They both had meet and greet, so my sister and I got separated from them at the very beginning. They gave the boys adorable construction paper Thundercats' masks. And from what I hear, the boys were pretty excited about them. mikikoshikawa gave them a word puzzle with pictures and words that spelled out “mothertruckin’ flapjacks” to sign and apparently Spencer loved it.

Jon wore his sombrero for their group picture. They'll have more about those things in their own reviews though. I'm just sad I wasn't there to see the boys faces when they got their masks. ;/ Zack dressed up too, but I didn't get any good pictures.

The Cab
They wore their costumes from Panic's "It's Almost Halloween" video. Johnson was a banana (and made my life) and Ian was a crab. I think there were explanations for all of their costumes but I can't remember what they said. It looked like Singer, Marshall, and Cash just threw on some white face paint and called it a costume.

God, those boys are growing up. They're still babies, but they've improved so much since Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour-- That's the last time I saw them. Ian's guitar skills continue to impress me. That boy can PLAY, and seeing that in him do it in his crab costume makes it so much better. Marshall keeps getting prettier.

Plain White T's
Tim (no I certainly did not look up his name just for the purposes of this review except that i did...) dressed up as tickle-me-elmo. He had the child's costume on his head and the body suit was cut apart at the end. I loved his costume.

Dashboard Confessional
I didn't take any pictures of them because they didn't have costumes on. I paid for costumes, damnit.

Panic at the Disco

It's almost Halloween, She's a Handsome Woman, & half of Lying
If you haven't seen it yet, here's my video of the first nine minutes of their set. I had a feeling they were going to do "It's Almost Halloween" first, and THEY DID. They all wore their same costumes from the video they made for the song.

Basically, Brendon was in love with his vampire cape. Check out Brendon running across stage at 4:00 just to have the cape flair out behind him. It’s pretty hilariously in character for him, and I love it. I almost missed it because I made the mistake of actually paying attention to Ryan while he was speaking. :D

I also found out later that one of my sister's friends was stalking them before the show while they were outside the venue playing fisbee in the parking lot. Apparently, Brendon was running around playing frisbee in normal clothes but with his cape on. My sister's friend took a picture with him in his cape. It's amazing.

I was very sad when he took the cape off right before Lying. It kept slipping off his shoulder while he was playing guitar, so I'm thinking that's why he took it off. Sacrifices for the art, and whatever.

Brendon had white face paint on too. I really feel like everyone on the tour was using the same tube of white paint. It makes sense, right? and I sort of want to write a fic about this mysterious traveling face paint. *runs away*

So Brendon sweats. We all know this. I think the paint must have gotten in his eyes or something, because after Lying he ran over the the side of the stage and wiped it all off with a towel.

Jon took his frankenstien mask off after "It's Almost Halloween" and replaced it with his "Mexican costume". He had a really long beard too, but he took that off after Lying.

RYAN AS THE MUMMY. We'll get to him...

Ryan Fucking Ross. Look at his face. Look at it. Seeing his costume up close made me so incredibly happy.

I love how comfortable Ryan seems on stage now. There really is a visible difference in the way he interacts with his band mates and with the crowd. I'll have more on the incredible eye sex I had with Ryan Ross in my review of the Philadelphia Show. ;)

Yeah, I don't even know. I don't think Ryan knows either.

Alright, let's talk about this boys posture on that piano and how it makes me want to climb him every time I see it. Holy shit, there's something so sexual about how he looks in this picture. I love when a musician knows how to use their instrument.

Augh, Brendon switching instruments is amazing. I love that he plays everything on stage at one point or another during the show. Seeing him behind his guitar the entire time for HCT was the only thing I didn't like about that tour. LET THE BOY BOUNCE AROUND. WE HE NEEDS IT.

Because of the make-up, I was getting flashbacks of Rosevest Era Ryan all night. Pure happiness.

OH HAI, BB. I LOVE YOU TOO.

Lots of Jon/Ryan moments. They were awesome.

Hands down, my favorite picture of the night. Ryan Ross.

Ohh and Brendon ran past Ryan at one point and jokingly ripped a few strips off of his mummy costume, like he was waiting to do it all day. Like it was just THERE, so he had to do it. He also kissed Ryan's shoulder when he ran past at another point in the show. Sort of like what Pete does to Patrick. I've never seen him do that before. It was adorable.

Brendon: Spence, you want to give me a little hit? Oh... that's good. *smirks*

nooo, you're not making unsubtle references to all the weed you smoked before and after the show, are you? Love that boy.

@ 3:24
Brendon: This is the guys dance! *does his little two step thing*
Ryan: Is that the guy's dance, or the girls dance?
Brendon: Well...*silence* Anyways...

It sounds like he was trying to come up with something witty to say, but couldn't think of anything on the spot. lol

UAHH. That's right, show us how you like it, bb.

Review of Philadelphia show soon...

jwalk puts the awesome in panic, brendon's stupid face, *flails*, reviews, it's a drummer thing, ryanross
