Snow Day

Uijeongbu and the surrounding reaches of Gyeonggi-do received a lot of snow on Monday, to the point where our academy director decided to cancel classes for the day. Even better was hearing later in the week that we won't need to come in on a normal day off to make up the time -- it's like snow days in high school without any of the downsides. My one extra day of vacation was spent taking pictures around town, and altogether I spent more than six hours outdoors. Here is a sampling from the beginning of the week:









The three photos above are from Uijeongbu-2-dong's Catholic Church. The site is registered as Gyeonggi-do Cultural Property Material No. 99 and it's not uncommon to come across brown-colored signs around downtown Uijeongbu pointing out its location. A plaque on the church grounds mentions how it was built by Father Yi Gwaegwang with the assistance of I Corps, US Army in 1953.
