After having pork galbi for lunch and bossam for dinner today this seems as good a time as any to post the '한식 100: 100 Korean Foods You Gotta Try' list / meme. This should serve as a good summary of many of the foods I've had here over the past eighteen months. By no means is it exhaustive - neither 고래고기 (whale meat) nor my beloved 호빵 (
hobbang) made the cut, for example - but it does do an excellent job of highlighting the 'important' dishes in Korea. The list was originally created by
ZenKimchi and the 한글 (Korean names) were later added by
FatManSeoul. For my francophone readers, you can check out the French equivalents via
Madame Choi's blog.
Bold font indicates something that I've tried.

Interestingly, there are several dishes that I first ate in the United States as a result of tutoring Korean students and, later, sharing an apartment with a Korean student during my final year of university. My total came out to 72 of 100. Looks like there are still a few more left to sample. I seem to be doing alright on the intestine/ blood front and have even had a dish or two involving various internal organs that didn't make the list.
