The end of October saw the beginning of the kimjang (김장) season in Korea and, if the stock of local vegetable grocers is any indication, two weekends ago saw its close. Sorry the timing didn't work out for you to use this as a paper topic!

You hadn't mentioned the 'kraut vs. kimchi' battle before, but that is really interesting to hear about. I think you had every right to remind her about canned sauerkraut's less-than-pleasant aroma if she had a problem with kimchi's scent. I once had a jar of sauerkraut break in my bookbag. It ruined my middle school math book and corroded my calculator, although I wasn't charged damages for either.

Yeah, and I was a little surprised to see the reference!

Korean kinship terms would probably be another area capable of producing a number of linguistic papers. For example, trying to pin down what 아가씨 really means.
