I am back from my trip to the United States and Taiwan. This is not something that I thought worth mentioning, but it seems most of my friends were either under the impression I had yet to return or were hesitant in asking if I was back in Korea. As I joked about with Inok elsewhere, my vacation must be one of the shortest non-business ( Read more... )

all the not-so-happy-things aside... I can't believe you went to Taiwan without going to the night markets!!!

Next time you go to Taiwan, let me know, not that I know my way around in Taiwan, but so I can see if I can make a trip there too, mwahahaha... I love the night market life there... there's good food, fun stuff, and lots of doggie accessories. Granted my mandarin isn't worth anything (never really learnt it) but still!!!

Any plans on visiting Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai? ;)

My visit to Taiwan was only eight hours as that's how long my layover was from the United States to Korea. It's a shame I couldn't visit the night markets while I was there! However, I'm going back to Taiwan from September 12th - 15th to visit a friend in Taichung (台中市). I'd really like to see some sites related to Taiwanese Aborigines if possible, as well as a few local temples. Apparently one of the Buddhist temples near Taichung is supposed to have the remains of Xuánzàng, the monk from Journey to the West / Monkey. I'd love to say that I've been there!

I'd really like to visit Macau and meet with you! Any idea how easy it is for foreigners to get a tourist visa?

taiwan draws me for some reason - more so than japan or other countries in the region. everyone i've met from there has been exceptionally nice and open but even before i met anyone i thought the place was interesting. these 'preferences' that come out of nowhere make me wonder sometimes.

I'm disappointed that we couldn't spend more time together - hopefully the next time you visit (or even better, when I visit Korea and Japan!) we'll be able to spend more time having fun adventures and catching up on recent and not-so-recent events.

Thank you again for the fantastic gifts. I've already been told by two ladies that they love the bright bag, and that the compact mirror is exactly what *they* need, too. If they knew you, I'd say they were hinting that you should send some over...

As it was, it was lovely just to hear your voice and not have to feel guilty about costly phone conversations. And your drawings are adorable. I hope you've been keeping up with your homework? ;)
