She has the ability to bend time and space to her will and she doesn't even know it. When things do go her way she subconsiously creats things called closed spaces where she takes out her anger and if a closed space gets big enough she can destroy the world.
Appearance: Haruhi is the vision of beauty, at around 5”0' tall her slim figure and big chest already has most boys drooling over her. In her shoulder length brown hair she wears a yellow headband with a small ribbon on either side. Though most of the time she wears she sailor school uniform, she does have a quite normal sense of fashion(despite her personality) outside of school. And no matter what she's got on, she's always wearing her red armband with the words “Brigade Chief” on it.
Background/Personality: For the first part of her life, Haruhi was a perfectly normal child with the average interest in aliens, time travellers or any of that odd stuff. But that all changed on the day when she went to a baseball game with her family. As she looked over the crowds of people that had come, she was in awe. She was sure that most of the population of Tokyo must have been there. She asked her father how many people were in the stadium. He answered with a number much lower than she thought it would be. She did the math and figured out that the number of people in Tokyo alone was many times the number of people who had attended the game. When she learned this she realized how insignificant her life was in the long run.
This caused something enormous to happen. Three years ago (cannon time) there was disruption in the time planes. People discovered dormant powers. There was a huge explosion of data. In short, that was when Haruhi became “God”. Anything she wanted to happen would happen, whether she knew it or not. After that she became infamous in middle school for doing odd things, such as drawing circles in paint in the fields and moving all the desks in the school into the hall ways. She was also well known for her dating habits. She would never reject anyone, but she would always break up with them no matter who they were, and she always used the same line, “I have no time for ordinary humans!”. She never stayed with one guy very long either. As stated by Taniguchi, her longest relationship was a week, her shortest was five minutes. It seemed that she was only interested, at that point, in odd and bazaar things like aliens and time travellers. She just never grew out of those childish dreams.
When she entered her first year of high school, she met Kyon, a guy who simply wanted to live in peace, nothing more. Unfortunately for Kyon, Haruhi would never let that happen. After their first serious conversation about how Haruhi never had her hair in the same style, she started opening up to Kyon and took his advice about starting her own club. Of course, she would need help with this, and Haruhi being Haruhi, she recruited that help with force. Kyon soon found himself being her somewhat willing slave. A club called the SOS Brigade was formed. Members were found and recruited much in the same way Kyon had been. Completely unknown to Haruhi, she had the oddest group of people (save for Kyon) in her club. This would have made her ecstatic had she actually known they weren't normal. The club consisting of Yuki the alien, Mikuru the time traveller, and Koizumi the esper, none of whom were allowed to tell her who they really were.
With her club, she participated in many activities and games, such as baseball and mystery hunting, but the most exciting things went on behind her back, like fighting internet monsters that kidnapped people and that sort of thing. The other members of her club, who all possessed odd powers (once again, save for Kyon), were constantly battling forces that were created by Haruhi or in some way had something to do with her. The most significant would be the Closed Spaces that Koizumi was able to enter due to his esper powers. These were large spaces created by Haruhi where she would take out her rage without harming the outside world, though it was said that if a Closed Space became too big, it could destroy the world.
As on any other day, Kyon headed for the club room. When arrived though, he didn't find a hyper Haruhi waiting for him, or a meek red-head girl in a maid outfit or even a clown of an esper. He found a older version of Mikuru. She had come back from the future to tell him one thing, that if he was ever in troubled all he had to do was remember “Snow White”.
One night, after Kyon and Haruhi were asleep, the espers worst nightmares became a reality. Haruhi had created a Closed Space so big it had covered the entire world and only two people would survive this, Haruhi and Kyon. They hid out in the club room for a while before Haruhi decided to investigate. She left the club room, instructing Kyon to stay put. Immediately after she left the incomplete form of Koizumi appeared at the window. Kyon is informed that Haruhi has finally given up on the world and is creating a new one. The only two people from the other world that will continue into the next one are Haruhi and Kyon. His finally message is from Yuki requesting that he turn on the computer. When Kyon does turn on the computer, he gets a message from Yuki. It simply says “Sleeping Beauty”. At first he was puzzled by this, but it soon became clear. When running from the giants inside the Closed Space, Haruhi told Kyon that she had no desire to return to reality, she wanted to say in the Closed Space. It was at that point that Kyon understood the meaning of the messages. That a kiss would awake her from her sleep like it did in the fairy tales, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Kyon comments on how good Haruhi's hair looked in a pony tail, and then kisses her.
The next day, Kyon and Haruhi went to school, as they would any other day. Kyon walked into the class wondering if there was any way to prove that what had happened, had actually happened. That's when he finds the proof! Haruhi is sitting in the class, her hair tied up in a pony tail. The only ones who seem to realize that anything is out of the ordinary are, Kyon, Haruhi, Koizumi, Mikuru and Yuki, the only people five people involved in anyway.
When Haruhi arrived at Toujours Hotel she was immediately in awe of the place, I mean, there was a petting zoo in the lobby, how cool is that!? Anyways, the next day there was not so rainbows and sunshine. Her first full day was in the "horror hotel", every floor curse being something odd and terrifying from horror movie. Though on that day she shrugged it off as an illusion when she found out it wasn't she never took anything the hotel did, that could cause her danger, very lightly anymore. But still, she was convinced the people of the hotel needed to have fun! So, Haruhi formed the Toujours SOS Brigade, consisting of ten members including herself.
During her stay Haruhi has been able to witness many spectacular things, among them; a ghost jazz band, a murdering psychopathy, an arrancar, a high priest and many many more things! Seeing all these things hasn't at all changed her love for them, in fact, now she just wants to find things even better than what she's already seen!
To most people when they first met Haruhi Suzumiya they only thing of her as a very cold, reserved person. But in truth that is most defiantly not the case. Her true nature is as a loud, eccentric girl with a love for anything abnormal. She is constantly stating that she “has no interest in ordinary human”, as is the reason for the SOS Brigade, to find odd happenings. Most of these weird things that happen are he own fault without her even knowing. In essence Haruhi is “God”, she makes things happen with a combination of her wishing and her genki-ness. When she sets her mind to something it is going to happen even if people try to get in her way. Though in the rare case something doesn't go her way, she gets very irritable.
Despite how much she wishes paranormal things like time-travelers and the like existed, Haruhi does have common sense. There is one part of her that keeps telling her that these things will never exist, hence why Mikuru, Yuki and Koizumi haven't been forced to show themselves by Haruhi's powers. Even upon being told by Kyon that the Brigade members are more than they seem Haruhi's common sense tells her not to believe it.
Along with her eccentricities, Haruhi also does very well in school and sports. She gets straight A's in every subject and is constantly being asked to join clubs or teams within the school for her talent. She had joined all the teams and clubs at the begin of the year, but never stayed in one more than a week as she found them all too normal. Also, whenever the SOS Brigade participates in any sports, like baseball, she is always the most useful player. She is very competitive and confident in her Brigade in sporting events, which she really shouldn't be considering most the Brigade is not very good.
Haruhi doesn't take praise well. She isn't used to be thanked because of her usually mischievous behaviour so when she is it's very awkward to her. It's like a sign of weakness to her and she very much doesn't like showing weakness.

She pulled herself back into the room and returned to her place at the computer at the front of the room. And she paced. “Seriously! I am so good to him and he repays me by being late for everyone of my meetings! Ga! Mikuru!” She pointed at the big chested red-head who was currently preparing a little tray of cookies and was dressed in her usual maid costume. “Change into the cat girl costume I got you yesterday. The maid dress is getting old.” Mikuru merely nodded, shook and headed of to do the brigade leaders bidding.
“Well, as long as Kyon's skipping his duties, I might as well sort through this stuff for him to do later.” And Haruhi went to work piling stacks of paperwork that, of course, she wouldn't be doing, that was why she had club members. She worked diligently, sipping on the tea Mikuru had so kindly made her, until she came across a letter sized envelope with the words “SCI-FI CON” on it. Curious, she opened it and read the content. A three day long trip, free of charge to a sceince fiction convention that supposesedly had an appearance by a real alien! Did it get better than that!? And without a second thought she declared, “I'll be leaving on a trip for a while, Koizumi, you're in charge till I get back.”
With that she just got up and left. The letter seemed mysterious but that was just more reason to go check it out right? Besides if it was legitamate then she was getting the chance to see an alien, nothing seemed more appealing to her. Well actually, there was one thing that would make it better... ,“Ne! Make sure Kyon gets all the paperwork on my desk by the time I get back in three days,!”...there. Now she could leave, knowing that she left Kyon miserable.
