Now that I am somewhat back up and running let's conclude my tribute to unemotional bastards. I was going to do five days of this, but considering the computer explosion that put me out of commission for a couple of months let's skip right to the end shall we. I give you the final member of the unemotional bastard hall of fame. The man, the myth, the legend:
Name: Sam Davis
Why is he on the list: Where shall we begin. Served in WWII as part of the 7th armored division (shot once). Once leaving the Army he went to college and played football at UGA (busted knee) back when it was students who just happened to play football. Flunked out and decided to join the TN Highway Patrol until he got tired of the politics (raised three kids who are vindictive and not unemotional bastards). Joined the Sherriff's department (shot two more times, married a woman who he picked up in a dry cleaners and raised another kid). You might be thinking how is this guy an unemotional bastard. Well let me tell you I know because he's my father and if there is anything that he taught me it was that if you have to put your feelings aside to get the job done then that's what you have to do. He would say always be calm in a situation which is painfully obvious, but considering the man had been shot three times in his life the lesson rings a little bit truer. So, here's to you Dad and your way of keeping it all together no matter how much hell was going down. Thanks.
Originally this was going to be on the Friday when I started the list which would have been my Dad's 83rd birthday if he was still alive.
Off to der coffeehouse.
