So I went to the Rob Bell talk at the tabernacle and it was really interesting. To start it my friends and I didn't even have tickets. The tickets were $15 each and were sold out. But because we knew the Lord would provide we made signs that said,
"Poor college folk. Love Jesus but need tickets."
After whipping those babies out, people were giving us tickets left and right. So long story short we got 7 amazing seats for 15 dollars!
As I left the building after the talk I saw street preachers yelling and condeming people. They were saying that Rob Bell was a false profit and calling girls whores. At first I just let them be. I have seen their kind many of times down on campus and I knew that trying to talk to them would be fruitless. But as I waited outside for my friends I saw many people walking by the street preachers and laughing and mocking them........ My heart broke.
Why would you laugh. If anything we should be praying for them for their blindness and lack of understanding. I am not saying that they were not acting foolishly, but instead of loving on them, my fellow brothers and sisters just laughed and scoffed at them.
What is wrong with us! At least those preachers really believed in what they said. We talk about love and how we are Christians, but we are so quick to judge and mock people who are have different theology and criticize our pastors for not doing things how we think things should be done.
(I am guilty of this many of times!)
Bush is like this and bush is like that. Did you hear about Creflo Dollar? Pastor ___ is so wrong about that scripture........... Do I have to continue?
When was the last time we prayed for these guys? Then again, when was the last time we got on our knees for the money preachers? Then again, when was the last time we got on our face before God in behalf of our lost friends?
Jesus says in Matthew 5:44 to love your enemies, but these are not our enemies. They are our brothers and sisters. Laughing and criticizing street preachers, church leaders, televangelists, politicians, and non believers does nothing but show our lack of love....
So the question is not are they going about it right, but do we really love people?
P.S. I mentioned some people who were there in my note. I am not accusing anyone of anything.
