It's never about trying. There is nothing to try to do. In fact, the best thing to remember is why you care so much about what you do in the first place. It's important to know what you want to do, why you want to do it, how you're going to do it and what brought you to all those spots in the first place.
I often question why I'm trying so hard to do this political jazz, but I never veer too off course because I remember that the whole reason is to use media as a positive tool to educate my generation and encourage them to stop being stagnant and lethargic and uninterested. I know the reason why is because I found out these things, and I want my hands to be clean -- I genuinely care and give the proverbial shit about my generation and I want to use my time and what I've found out to help educate them and get them interested in what is going on in the world via either directly or through fiction writing/movies. What brought me to all these places? Love. Love to the best of my knowledge of what it is.
It's the same thing for a ministry. People get prideful. They get caught up in the numbers. How many people are getting saved, how much effect is it having... etc. But you have to remember, you're doing what you're doing because you experienced something in your life that made you happier -- happier and more fulfilled than you were before.
You do what you do because you simply would like to tell other people "This is what made me whole and content and at one with life and Lord, if you're interested, then let me tell you about it."
That's all it is. That's why you do what you do, that's why you care, that's why you "serve", that's why you're saved. You're saved because you found something that made you whole. You share because you want other people that were like you to understand that if you can be whole the way you are, then so can they.
And so you see... what is there to try to do? What is there that needs to be learned beyond this? There are no rules, boxes, cages and demographics. You're a witness to what has given you happiness and wholeness. You are just doing what you do because it's who you are now.
Christians these days... and they churches they attend. It's really getting me down because they don't seem to remember why in the fuck they ended up where they are. They so often times forget exactly what the whole point was. They get caught up in trying and in figuring out how to fix themselves. They forget that they were fixed the minute they found that thing that pluged up the whole inside them. They forget that they're already fixed and that they just want to let people know that if they have the same problem then they can be fixed just like you.
You don't gotta try and you don't gotta think. God doesn't care. The way you serve God is by simply knowing he's there, acknowledging he's there and seeing him in everything and everyone. Preach, and when necessary use words. God doesn't want you to try. God just wants you to enjoy the wholeness that he's instilled within you. He just wants you to forget what you've learned and let it flow back to you without you trying. When you forget what you've learned, then it flows back 10 times better, 10 times more powerful and you learn more than you ever could if you actually tried.
