She had always taken great pride in her work. Did more than was expected and got what she wanted. Best in her classes got her into the academy. The same dedication placed her on the fast track in the air force.
But when she was denied a place on the second Stargate mission despite all her work, she faltered. She wanted on the team. Anything else was failure.
Later, she would leave General Hammond’s house, her body spent, her jaw tired, and she would recall the moment when he approved her for the team with a new sense of pride.
