I baked cookies; they actually turned out okay for once!
It was a surprise for Mom.
I made her favourite.
They were done when Dad came in, he was meant to be with Mom.
She was meant to walk in, hug me, kiss me and taste a cookie…
She didn't.
Dad came in alone, crying.
Dad never cries.
I knew something was wrong.
He'd been late leaving. He said Mom took a cab and there had been an accident.
I didn't listen to the rest. Mom's dead…
I hate him; it's his fault. I don't think I'll ever forgive him.
