They had been caught off guard. A simple mistake leading to their imprisonment in a small dank cell. Days passed with nothing but a small amount of water that they managed to capture by taking turns under a leaky pipe that was located somewhere above them.
They grew weak.
It was Sam’s turn under the pipe when Jack pounced on something that scuttered across the floor. It was an alien bug. Big, black, and mouse sized. She saw the look on Jack’s face.
She knew that look.
It was his, ‘Carter, you have to eat the bug’ look.
She grimaced.
