I really like how perceptive John has pretty much immediately picked up an Ritchie's attraction for George. But when he maneuvered himself into Ritch's lunch spot, saying "oh, you'll have pleasant company"...I was afraid, hoping poor Ritch's stomach wouldn't growl all through talking with George, lol! I think he had other things on his mind than food when George appeared, though! :)
quote:
His stomach did a messy little cartwheel------Yes!!! Exactly!!! :)
quote:
He hadn’t seen George for a week osince he hadn’t been assigned to open shop again, and Richard had always gone out for lunch when the boy was supposedly supposed to come in.
It sounds as if Richard is kind of avoiding George, engineering his lunch hours to coincide with George's arrival, as if afraid of his feelings when he runs into him.
What is up with John and Paul, lol!!!
quote: (this, I thought, was just SO George!!!)
George didn’t even look vaguely interested about the vicious-looking words John was spitting out at his friend, seemingly distracted with a loose button on his coat.
quote:
God, he’d had a whole week and then some to prepare for this eventuality, but he wasn’t ready for it at all. He’d done scarier things than try to talk to a fourteen year old, but for some reason he felt nervous and jittery.
Yes, this is exactly how it is when one has a crush, one imagines all the scenarios trying to plan how to live through it, only to be confronted by the immediacy of seeing the person, and all plans of being suave and confident are totally shot!
What's adorable here is that George is just as awkward as Ritch!!! Which makes the reader want to find out if George is just shy, or is he interested too? I hope a little of both!
Ritch's musings on how pretty George is, how he lets his gaze fall to George's lips, imagining, only to have George say, "Who are you, then?" The whole beard discussion, lol! So funny, so George-like. The earnest "15 in four months!" Ritchie, jealous, as his mind conjures up a dozen suspects who could be Paul. And his deserate effort to try to keep talking, trying to think of something interesting to say to prolong the encounter!!! I just loved Loved it!!!

I feel like Ringo would be kind of easy to read in a situation like this, at least the easiest out of the Beatles, but that's just my silly opinion. I couldn't do that to ol' Ringo haha. First meetings are important, after all.
Quotes, whoo!
Oh no, a typo lol. Glad that was pointed out. But also yeah, I think his avoidance is more of an unconscious thing, if anything.
A good question that will soon be kinda sorta answered in due time, lol.
Aw thanks, I have a wee bit of difficulty characterizing George at times so it means a lot that you think this was George-like! I wasn't too sure with the beard thing but I found it hilarious so I kept it in for my own selfish satisfaction.
I'm so tickled that you like this chapter so much! :) Makes me feel great as a writer, especially since I'm writing my favorite pairing and I'm pretty picky when it comes to it. But I guess my pickiness is what helps the story unfold the way I want it to.
