She passed tonight with her head in my lap and my voice in her ear telling her how much I loved her. Although I was only her person for just under three years, she was an incredibly sweet spirit, smart as a whip and overflowing with love. Not to mention the most beautiful dog I've owned.
She probably had a pretty crappy life before I rescued her - I think she was owned by a breeder in San Diego who cast her out when she had outlived her usefulness. I had to teach her how to walk down stairs, and she was used to trimming her own toenails, so I doubt they had ever been trimmed for her. I know I could never make up for the sorrows she suffered before she met me, but I hope in the short time we were together, I gave her love enough for a lifetime.
