Soooo...my life is boring, and I've pretty much been ignoring LJ lately since something weird's going on with it. Instead of exciting you with an entry about that, have a meme that I keep meaning to post.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
Anders is crazy, but that's why I like him. I don't know how to explain it. I have a thing for tortured, handsome male characters who change personalities every 3.5 seconds and aren't total tools or assholes with the ladies they love, and he fits the bill. That and he automatically became my favorite the instant he started ranting about how he had to get rid of his cat.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Considering he [SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER] at the end, I would say so. We would've been playing a different game without him.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
Hrmm. Okay. I can't exactly relate to Anders, since he's a little...crazy, and while I'm a moody individual, I can only hope I don't get that off the deep end. XD On the other hand, I am emotionally gripped by him! His regrets get to me. That, and Anders reminds me so much of Cais that I immediately get defensive when people hate on him.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Yes and no. I come for the lovely fanart! I stay away from fandom in general because I don't trust it.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
It's hard to say, since the main character is directly influenced by your decisions in the story, but I totally ship Hawke/Anders like something burning. The entire time I played the game and the two of them interacted with each other and then they kiiiiiissed, I was all:
True story!
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
Um, nothing, I think. Would prefer avoiding that! He already had a drastic personality change during the transition from Awakening to DA2.
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her?
I can give him one of my cats and we'll automatically be friends. It was meant to be. Truly. I'm not sure how I would feel if one of his...um, "mood swings" happened while I was around, though. I would run. Very, very far. And I wouldn't return his phone calls for a week.
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
Easily one of my favorite Dragon Age characters, next to Alistair.
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?
I would totally hype him up, but warn them about the personality change between two narratives. It doesn't matter to me, since I preferred him in DA2, but it's worth noting.
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
Anders always seems to get an extreme reaction from the fans. Either they really, really love him or they really, really hate him because he's different than the Anders in Awakening.
