I finished the Soul Eater anime. It was awesome, but that's not the point of this post.

QUICK, GIVE ME SHIPS.

Y'know, for...educational purposes.

idk, I want to do something fannish; I just haven't figured out exactly what, though. Maybe something a little fanmix-y that isn't really a fanmix, just for the hell of it ( Read more... )

fandom: soul eater, this is an example of a poor social life, sam is a loser

Eeee, thank you! <3 These are awesome ships - especially Squall/Yuffie, because it's really new and I haven't delved into it yet. And HELL YES, OT3.

I've loved Squall/Yuffie from the first KH's wee beginnings. I OTP it to great amounts, even though I don't talk about it all too often. I like it best when it's bittersweet and full of sad references to the people they loved first (Rinoa and Vincent).

RiSoKai is pretty much canon in my eyes. The game really sets them up as a trio - no more, no less.

I think I ended up liking Squall/Yuffie best out of the possible Final Fantasy ships in KH because I saw others shipping Squall/Aerith which baffled me and drew me to the conclusion that Squall/Yuffie is more likely to happen. Then Yuffie commented on how cute Squall was when he worried about the dalmation puppies, and it took off from there. XD I like the references to their first loves, too! Mostly because I'm a huge Vincent/Yuffie fan and I like to see Yuffie struggle with that and her feelings for Squall.

The game really sets them up as a trio - no more, no less.

Agreed. It's even more obvious in KH2 when all three of them set out to find each other. I can't imagine Sora/Kairi or Sora/Riku or Kairi/Riku existing without the other with them. It's not ... cruel, because that's too strong of a word for it, but it sucks when the trio is drastically changed into a "these two people are together while their other friend is a cheerleader". :/

I started liking it after stumbling upon some Squall/Yuffie fics on FFN way back in the day. I hadn't really thought all that much about shipping between the side characters, but I read that first story and got majorly hooked on S/Y. I also think Vincent/Yuffie and Squall/Rinoa are cool ships, but if I had to pick between any of them I'd probably go with Squall/Yuffie. They click better for me than V/Y and S/R do. I dig the baggage and the pasts and how he's more growly then Vincent probably is. Or something ( ... )

I don't think I'd choose Squall/Yuffie over the rest at the end of the day, but I'm too fascinated with them together to not ship them. I also find them more interesting than any FF ship in KH. (Except Cloud/Aerith and Cloud/Tifa being the obvious ones.) The baggage is what makes them engrossing to write/read about.

... Also, I keep wondering where your Squall/Yuffie icons are from. D: Is that from the manga? It looks like it is, but I wasn't sure because I only have one book and it's based on KH2.

I love what you point out about Riku and Kairi. IMO, they're a underrated ship in the KH fandom, at least in comparison to Sora/Kairi and Sora/Riku. I didn't like the ship in the first KH game - because it really doesn't seem like Riku and Kairi would work, ever - until I played the second one and had it click for me from there. They're just ... it's not that obvious, but one is definitely there. <3
