First of all, Yes, I’m still alive; although I wondered if I would be after the month I had. Let’s just say, I’m soooooo happy to put the month of February behind me. It seemed like it was loaded with one stressor after another, and I’m just glad to have it all over with.
I guess I’ll start with the last week of February since my last post was on the 20th. That Sunday night, we did end up getting together with Kelleigh and the boys. We ended up catching a movie called The Eagle, which was a historical movie about ancient Rome, and the invasion of Britain. To put it bluntly, it sucked. It was all fifteen minutes of laid back la tee da, with something like two minutes of action all throughout. It was almost hard for me to keep up with what was going on. But we had a good time. We talked some before and after the movie, but we didn’t’ hang out much after that, because both Kelleigh and I had to be up for work the next day, and I think her James had to get up much earlier than us for work.
That week was spent packing down my over-stuffed apartment, and trying to work out details of this move, all the while trying to kick what I was sick with. The antibiotic helped mostly, but then I started getting the stuffy head, and was still coughing, and very weak. I didn’t actually start to really get over it until the end of last week. I called out twice the last week of February, because I woke up both mornings with absolutely no voice. You have no idea how pissed off I was. This whole catching people’s illnesses and shit was for the birds. Even though I was sick, I still had work to do around the house with the packing, and still had to be presentable for the realtors to show the place. I also discovered on Tuesday morning, that time Warner still couldn’t find evidence of my existence, so I had to get a letter from the owner of the house stating that I would be living there, my social security card, and picture ID. So thus began the scramble to get all that information. Then there were stresses about when and who, and where, and how much, involving this move, and there were times when I just wanted to bang my head against any wall I could find.
Thursday night was the rascal Flats concert. James cabbed it here and picked me up so we could go straight there. It was crazy too. Soooooo many people! But the concert was awesome. It started out with Chris Young. I haven’t hard much by him, so I got an education. Then, Luke Brian came out and did a few songs. It was amazing how many songs I recognized, and never knew who sang them. Same with when Rascal Flats came out. I recognized most of the songs they sang, and they really put on an awesome show. They even did covers to some old rock songs my dad and I used to listen to. It was great. We ordered dominos pizza on our way home, and then promptly went home to stuff our faces with said order.
It was also that night when James helped me with a few emotional things, which I won’t get into here yet, because it requires much more explanation than I have the energy to give at the moment. I also found out some things about him that I didn’t’ realize either, and it was good to be able to open up.
We decided that Friday would not be the ideal day to move for lots of reasons, but mostly, because there was a weather advisory out for the whole day. It’s a good thing we changed the day too, because it was pretty bad. That afternoon, heather was able to acquire some wheels, so she drove by and picked us up and dropped us off at Time Warner so I could prove in person that yes I do exist and have been for the last 34 years. That morning, my new landlord drove by and dropped off the letter so I could take care of it before I wouldn’t have another chance to for a while. Everything went smoothly, accept for the fact that I was unable to port my phone number back from Frontier to Time Warner even though Time Warner originally gave it to me. Stupid burocracy, I guess. So now I have a new home phone number. Anyone who wants it, feel free to contact me, and I will hook you up. We did a quick Grocery store run after setting all that up, and then went back home to finish packing.
Saturday was the big move day. Originally, Maggie was going to pick me up, so we could drive out to get the truck I’d reserved from UHall. Plans changed slightly, and I got a text from Renee letting me know that she and Dev were on their way. I left with them, got the truck so Renee and I could drive it back to the apartment, and we began loading boxes until Dev and Michael got there. Then the dudes took care of the furniture, we got it all loaded up, and I was gone. We got to Heathers, began to unload and figure out what we were doing with all my shit. That room is big, and I have two closets. One is a walk-in, about as big as the bedroom area of my old apartment. We put my dresser in there. I ended up keeping the couch in my room, but they have the love seat in the living room. She also put a long table in my room, where all my plants are at the moment. So my room’s a bit cramped at the moment, because I still need to figure out what I’m doing with everything. After that, we all breathed sighs of relief and exhaustion then went out for Chinese food, and Dev and I took the truck back.
Sunday I worked all day, but then had to go back over to the apartment to clean it, and see if there were any little particles of stuff I may have left behind. I found a few things, but there were still plants I had to leave. I was sad about it, but I already have a lot of plants and Heather’s going to find room around the house for them. Plus, both Kelleigh and Candi have expressed interest in some. It was a hard night, but we got it about as clean as we were going to, and Maggie drove us back to Heather’s place.
So, last week has been a week of adjusting. I called out one more time on Tuesday, because I just wasn’t feeling well at all; still dealing with that damned virus or mutant bug, or whatever it was, on top of exhaustion, it just wasn’t happening. Time Warner came that day to set everything up for us, and James and Michael got us all on the internet, and it was a glorious day in the land. Both Heather and Michael ended up catching what I had, and I feel responsible for that. They were in bed most of last week dealing with that, and after Tuesday, I was working a lot. James did what he could, but not knowing what I wanted done with stuff, he couldn’t do a whole lot.
This week has been more of the same. I’m adjusting, even cooked a couple of meals for everybody this week, and starting to feel at home. I’m most definitely loving the never ending supply of feline love that I never can get enough of. James leaves late Saturday night, and even though I understand, he needs to get back; I hate to see him go. He’s put up with just about every one of my worst qualities this time around, and I’m surprised he hasn’t run away screaming long ago. I never knew just how bitchy I can get in certain situations, but he’s put up with it all.
I’m still taking that bloody zanex, and it helps, but it’s hard to say, because I’ve been so exhausted anyway. At least when I do wake up during the wee hours of the morning now, it’s only because of my bladder. I have an appointment with the sleep specialist for a consultation on the 20th of this month, and I scheduled a massage on the 29th from Julie, an acquaintance from school. My life is still in boxes, so I need to get off my arse and actually put shit away now.
So, it looks like tonight will be low-key, but we’re going to Candi and Kyle’s tomorrow and staying until early Saturday morning. Then, we’ll come back to the house and wash some of his things and pack his suit case so he can leave that night.
Also, I have to put this down for the record. I got a text message from my grandmother yesterday. It made me smile, because a lot of people her age don’t want to hear about new technology, and want no part of it. I’m sooooo happy I come from a long line of open-minded people who are always willing to learn new things. She’s 71 years old, still working, and is still active. I want to be active still at 71.
So that, my friends, is the last couple of weeks in a nut shell. I’m still looking for hounders to crack the whip on me so I’ll post every day. I’m hoping to have more exciting things to post about now that the move is over and all.
