The week that kicked my ass

Sep 27, 2010 18:33

I know, it’s been a week and a half since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been all over the place this past week with barely any time to breathe much less do a blog post. It’s been good, and it keeps me busy, but it’s kicking my ass.
Last week, I got asked by Heather to stay over there and take care of the animals; one female, very smart Labrador and three male cats, while she went out of town for the weekend. I was all for it, although I knew I was going to have internet withdrawals, wondering whatever will I do without precious internet. I learned very quickly that just like before the internet became a household thing, I could and would survive without it for three days.
I went over on Thursday night, so we could hang before she left that next morning. We tore into a bottle of rum, had a few drinks, then, we went to a local club I’d never been to called Dubland…not Dublin, but Dubland. OK, so that’s out of the way. She got tickets and really wanted to see this group called The Manhattan Project. I guess they’re an electronic techno-type band. No singing, just instruments and weird synthetic sounds. It was very interesting music, and I enjoyed it, but I couldn’t help all the visions it was giving me. That would be an entirely separate entry for another time. Her friend Matt met us there, so we hung out there before it got so hot we all thought we were going to pass out, and Matt took us home. The rest of the night was spent making and shaping fakacha bread, for her trip the next day, and getting involved in a very interesting spiritual discussion with Mat about 2012, aliens, and the earth. I don’t think we went to bed until about three or after.
The next day was spent getting her ready to go, helping her make sure she had everything, and making sure she ate her breakfast before her ride came to get her. After that, it was, as James would say, “good night, Jessica.” I got on that couch, and I did not move until Maggie showed up a few hours later to pick something up. I put all the Sookie Stackhouse books on my MP3 player, and just let fly while I vegged out until mold grew on me. I managed to get all the way through Dead until Dark, but when the second book started, my MP3 player started playing everything out of order, so I had to stop.
The next day, I had to work a few hours to cover for someone else that needed some time off, so I went in at three and worked until nine. Other than a slight catastrophe where Smart and rebellious Labrador thought it might be amusing to just kind of sneak off into the wooded area behind Heather’s house, everything went smoothly. She came back after I made an attempt to send Maggie a DM on twitter, and spelled her twitter user name wrong, because I’m a moron like that and can’t spell. I gave MS rebellious Labrador a lecture after taking her inside and promptly left for work.
Sunday, I didn’t get to do a whole lot, as my weekend was over, and I had a 9:30 to 6:00 shift to work. Heather was to get home that day, and I had paratransit scheduled to take me home, so I asked her if I could grab my laundry and wash it over at her place. When I got over there, she’d just been called into work,) She’s a sign language interpreter,) and she needed to meet someone at the emergency room. I did my laundry, and waited for her to get back. Once she got back, we just hung around the house and watched Practical Magic. I hadn’t seen that movie since my Albuquerque days.
I ended up staying over, and leaving early the next morning so I could get home in time to get ready for work. All this back and forth had me so frazzled I forgot my cane at her place, so I had to purchase a new one. I’d planned to get a new one eventually anyway, because the aluminum ones are just too heavy for me. I got to work, and at break time, Kasey hooked me up, so I was all set. Work was busy as usual, and Monday night, I went home and slept. That seems to be all I’ve wanted to do lately.
Tuesday, I went back over to Heathers, because she needed some work done on her legs and back. One of her friends was originally supposed to give me a ride home, so I figured cabbing it over would be OK. Just as I was about to walk out the door, Julie called wanting me to meet her up at dog town for a burger and some conversation with her and Kim. I walked over there, got a big bacon cheeseburger and ordered something to take to Heather since she doesn’t have much in the way of food right now, and hung out until they were ready to go home, then cabbed it over to Heather’s. We had some hot chocolate, even though it wasn’t cold enough out yet for it, and some left over fakacha bread, and watched a really cute Disney movie called Ponyo. It’s along the same likes as the little mermaid, because it’s about this little girl, who was born in water, but wants to be a human. She has magical powers, because she can make things bigger, and can make a bad generator run again. She goes on land, meets this little boy and his family, things happen, her father hates humans, and blablablabla. Then, more things happen, she becomes a human, but is forced to give up her magic, and she and the little boy are allowed to be together and be happy ever after. Oh, and did I mention she has a thing about ham? Yah, the littlest things amuse me.
Anyway, so I did the massage on her, and she promptly passed out. I sat up waiting and waiting for her friend to show. Finally, at almost two, now keep in mind he was supposed to be there at 12:30, she wakes up and wonders why he’s not there and I still am. She calls him. He got himself all turned around, completely got his wires crossed, and is waiting at my house for, I don’t know what. So it was so late that she just told him to come back to her house, and I ended up staying over. She ended up getting up early and taking me home the next morning.
Wednesday was pretty low key. I slept most of that night again, because I didn’t sleep well the night before.
Thursday, Maggie and Heather picked me up at work to do some shoe shopping. We ended up going out to Cohls, because they had a sail. I ended up walking out of there with one pair of slip-ons, one pair of combination dress/sneaker shoes. Both of those pairs were sketcher brand. I’d never heard of that brand before, but I really like them. They’re snug, and comfortable. I also ended up with a nice pair of Mary Jane dress shoes, hey; they were on clearance, and two packs of ankle socks. We went to chipotle so I could try one of their burritos, and they dropped me off. Somehow that night, I managed to pull one of my left neck muscles, so I was miserable for the rest of the night. It’s still not quite right, but it doesn’t hurt as bad as it did when it first happened.
Friday, we were all going to go out for Indian food, but Maggie wasn’t feeling well, so that didn’t happen. Instead, I bummed around here until I finally motivated myself to go to the grocery store and pick up a few things for the next couple of weeks. I bummed around the rest of the weekend and read. Actually, I think I slept most of the weekend. Once I got some drugs for my pulled muscle and headache that it brought, I slept like a baby.
So…there’s the update. It doesn’t look like I’ll be going to see James for Canadian Thanksgiving, because I put the request in over a week ago, and have heard nothing; no yay or nay. I’m still waiting to see if Marvin is going to be able to take my apartment so I can move in with Heather, but he hasn’t gotten back with me either way either. I could sure use some answers right about now. Even if it’s a no, at least I’ll hear something.
Well, I’m going back into my hole now. I’ll pop up again soon.
