What to do?

Howdy peoples! So, i've been noticing that about 90% of my flist (coincidentally 90% of my flist are Stargaters, or is it really coincidence?) have been branching out to Dreamwidth and so with crazy curiosity, I'm now also samantilles there as well ( Read more... )

I'll be getting a Dreamwidth account as soon as it goes live :)

As for your new house, YES! That's the one thing I'm looking forward to the most about finishing up college: being able to afford to get my own place.

I've been collecting all the links and ideas online for everything I need/want to buy-- my del.ic.ious account is all stargate ficrecs and new house stuff-kind of a strange collection to be honest! I've got a blog name set aside but I haven't built anything on it (only have one house picture so far-thursday I'll have a second since they've now flattened the land for the building *whoohoo!*

I worked at a Bed Bath & Beyond for three years, and used my employee discount to buy a really good cookware set, glasses, bedding, towels, home decor, etc. Some of it I use now, but other things (kitchen stuff especially) are stored in my closet, waiting 'til I can use 'em.

i just decided on my new bedding (and will probably purchase soon before the spring collections go away) and I have quite a bit saved from the BBB website! Its been strange, but i've noticed that Williams Sonoma is comparatively priced (surprisingly) and they just opened two new WSs in local malls for me!

I wound up buying a down comforter and duvet set, that way I could have a REALLY warm bedding set in the winter (which came in VERY handy while power was out during the ice storm) or could take the comforter out of the duvet and have a light coverlet.

I did the same thing-- but for me the big winner to duvets are the cleaning. I've destroyed more than one comforter shoving it in the laundry machine, but with the duvets I can just wash it and only dry clean the nice down comforter every six months or so... Unfortunately it seems that a lot of really cute bedding sets are comforters only, so I went hunting for months to find a good greenish duvet. In the end I went with pink and green (which is double love for me) and now I can pick a paint color for my master suite now that I've got the bedding.

YES!! I can't tell you how many people I'd have come into the store packing their paint samples... that is, packing the samples of the color they've already painted on the walls. Putting the cart before the horse...

As for down comforters, we have a new washer and dryer set (Whirlpool Duet) that are rather roomy on the inside. My queen-sized comforter easily went into the washer and dryer, and is now clean and fluffy without the cost of dry cleaning. In most cases, dry cleaning is suggested primarily because of the bulk of the comforter, not because the chemicals themselves are needed.

painting is the first thing I'm doing once i move in... but everything will be picked out before then otherwise! I want a green bedroom, but there are so many varieties of green that a comforter set can really change the color that looks good on the darned walls (IE, going with a pale mint green wall with a yellow-greeny bedroom set does not work!!)

this is the set I decided to go with, but I'll be cutting out some of the extraneous pink in the shams and sheets with white. But I do love pink, and I love the idea that my room, while green, wont' be monotone in only greens and whites.

Cute! I use a quilt atop my duvet (instead of a blanket between the duvet and the sheets) and I have this set. If I ever get around to it, I will be able to paint my walls pale green, pale yellow, pale blue... pretty much anything I want :)

I was really looking for something to be the centerpiece of the bedroom set, but everything I found that I liked was all green--going with a variety of colors on the bedroom set is total win in my book!
