Top 5

My dear friend Joey does a weekly top 5 list.
Usually I like his top 5's, as we tend to agree on many wordly matters.
However, his most recent, was not up to par. At least not in my book. =)
So, I have made my own top 5 list of most unappreciated movies.
Most of you will probably disagree with mine, so feel free to poke fun
of my list, much like I did his (I mean, really... The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants?)

1) Seems Like Old Times -
It's almost like no one has seen this Neil Simon movie, and it's a damn shame, because it's hilarious. Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, Charles Grodin, bank heists, illegal immigrants, stray dogs, Aurora's chicken pepperoni... this movie has it all and I could watch it over and over and over.

2) Serenity -
Thats right, Serenity! I loved the Fire Fly series, and was so sad that after not even a whole season, it was pulled. People really did get into it though, hence the making of the movie. So lame, yet so good!

3) Ravenous -
It's hard to pin down the genre of this one. It's theoretically a horror film, and there's plenty of gore, but it has the feel of a straight-up dark comedy. I seem to remember it being advertised badly during its original theater release in the late 90s and so not many people seem to have seen it. What gore it does have is liberally and joyously splashed around, and the Gothic bluegrass score is masterful. Also, kudos to Robert Carlyle for being so damned creepy.

4) The Sea is Watching -
Visually stunning film. I liked it a lot, as I enjoy early Japanese culture. I'm a sucker for romance, but it's a beautiful film nonetheless and the story-line is wonderful.

5) The Great Muppet Caper -
I adore this movie and have since I was a kid, even though the songs get stuck in my head for weeks afterwards. It's set in England, but only half of the cast has British accents. I think it's a little lesser known than The Muppet Movie or Muppets Take Manhattan.

and as an extra bonus, The Rules of Attraction..... Mainly beacuse I don't think anyone gets how great this movie will make you feel once its over, and you realize how fucked up you're NOT.
