The 80th Annual Academy Awards, my thoughts:
Possibly the worst year ever?
Opening introduction with Jon Stewart. Loved the animated intro. Loved the dialogue. No one in the audience seemed to care. I could read Johnny Depps face as Stewart spoke.... he was screaming for the return of Ellen Degenneres. heh. As for the rest of the night, I thought Stewart did pretty well.
Bad Dreams Oscar Salute: shortest montage, but my far my favorite. I actually enjoyed all of the montage's and flashbacks. Ruth Gordon, for Rosemarys Baby.... abfab. The montage of last 55 years of lead actress' winners, was really nice as well.
Red Carpet -
Kerri Russel:
in a lovely silverish cream couture dress, by far my favorite of the night.
Ann Hathaway:
wishing her red dress was as nice as Katherine Heigl.
Jennifer Hudson:
being very bold in a white, roman looking toga dress. Which I actually liked.
Owen Wilson's nose seemed to be bruise, indicating a possible recent nose job? Maybe plastic surgery will be his anti-suicide. What.... to soon?
Joel and Ethan Coen won their first Oscar since Fargo, and rightfully so.
Best part of the night for me, personally.... was Kristen Chenoworth's performance of "How Do You Know." Anyone who's read this dumb blog for awhile knows my mild obsession with Kristin. She was wonderful, as per usual, even having to sing a stupid song. She looked fantastic with her hair long once again, and a beautiful Vera Wang dress.
Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan we're adorable, and I was pleased to see them making an appearance. And who knew those two could clean up so well?
One thing I was really looking forward to, was the award that Seth and Jonah presented, Best Sound Mixing. Kevin O'Connel was nominated for Transformers. It was his 20th time being nominated, without a win. He is the Susan Lucci of the Oscars. And once again, tonight was a miss for him. How sad.
There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men, I could have lived without both movies. I really didn't care much for any of the movies hat have come out in the past year. Oh well.
Oh, and while watching, a commercial came on for a remake of Raisin In the Sun, with P-Diddy, which is airing tomorrow. He better not fuck up such a classic story. More on this tomorrow.
