Dude, I just wanted to take this moment to write you and tell you that I love your albums, I really do. I think that 'Person Pitch' will most definitely end up being one of my favorite records this year. I believe that you're pretty much a certifiable genius and I love you in 'Animal Collective,' but here's the thing...let's try bringin' a full band next time you sell out the fucking Social, ok?
Now, I know that "full band" may not be your thing and I'm sure legions and legions of people everywhere praise your ultra-minimalistic stage set up, but I don't. Maybe I just don't get it. Or perhaps I'm just being trite and judge mental. Maybe it's just too impossible to capture the aural space and sprawl of your records in a live setting, so you're forced to resort to samples and prerecorded material. Maybe that's it. I don't know.
But I'll tell you what I DO know:
As much as I enjoy seeing a guy stand alone on stage in front of a couple of mixers and yelp into a microphone for over an hour, I really DON'T enjoy seeing a guy stand alone on stage in front of a couple of mixers and yelp into a microphone for over an hour.
...at least not for $15.
But then again I'm just a tired bitter old woman, so what do I know? And there's always next time, right?
your friend,
Samantha
