Sherlock icon because...TEA!
Squee-age over some tea sites, a tea order, etc.
Also a minor rant about gremlins (it makes sense in context) and an update on my AlimaPure cosmetics.
If you enjoy reading reviews before buying things, like I do, check out
Steepster, which reviews tea!
However, take the reviews with a grain of salt, because there were several teas that they had a collective "Euurggh" to, but which I enjoyed (PG Tips comes to mind). But useful to start from, nonetheless, as well as a tool to pinpoint which teas are made by which companies/available on several sites.
Like my beloved
Soap Box Co, there are many "distributor" websites out there. Some teas can be found on multiple sites, a few are exclusive, but most are found, like a cheap whore's viruses (bad example, but still) spread all around.
Anyway.
My Kindle with Special Offers just offered a groupon-like deal for
ESP Emporium" ($12 for $25 worth of product). I looked into it, signed up for their newsletter and got a (slightly) better deal for Black Friday: 30% off! (It worked out to just a few bucks more than $25 off, but this way I can go back and purchase larger quantities of a few things. And also that mug I forgot to get for my mom...)
I'm excited!
I hope it doesn't suck.
I bought tea from another company a few years back and it was just blah.
But hopefully this will be good--I mostly got fruit-based teas; I'll update with a review once it gets here.
On another note, Amazon gypped me out of 2 of my 3 mascaras. It was supposed to be a Christmas present for my mom, yay, but they charged me for 3 and only sent 1. ? Emailed them, they're going to send out another set, but I have to send back the original, boo.
Also bought some gel eyeliner (Maybelline, I think). Why the makeup spree? Well, another special offer was $10 off $30 or more. Coupled with my Amazon points, that paid for almost half my order!
I also got some Burt's Bees Antibacterial (with aloe and witch hazel), but it hasn't gotten here yet, so I can't review it. It has favorable reviews on Amazon, though.
Alima Pure eyeshadow continues to be awesome. Today I just slapped on some gel eyeliner (surprisingly nice, wot wot) and some Aphrodite, a shimmery brown. It's pretty.
So far, I have liked most of the eyeshadows I've used, but especially Chai, Buttercream and Hellebore, with Paris, Truffle and Venus also being nice. I like that they are subtle but also pretty; so far, despite having large glittery bits, the only one that was "whoa, special occasion/night out" was Truffle, but with a little chutzpah to go, it could easily be a day shade.
I still like the foundation but find that I'm more a Neutral 2/Beige 1 girl. Can't be easy, amirite?
Anyway, gremlin rant, then I'm done for today.
My stepdad has a projector set up in the living room, yay, right?
Well...nope.
It's mounted high up on the ceiling, and we have vaulted ceilings, so it can be difficult to get to, without a ladder anyway.
It's relatively easy to send a DVD/PS2 signal through the box (it controls sound and such), largely I suspect because it's old-fashioned Red/Yellow/White cables. Simpler is better in this instance. (Random sidenote: my stepdad has, in the past, attempted to tell me that it's impossible to send a DVD signal through the box without also sending it through the projector/different cables. When he's not there, I simply attached the RYW (RdYwWh?) cables to the appropriate ports on the back of the transformerboxthing and bam! I'm Emeril! Okay, not really, but it worked perfectly. Take that, idiot.)
Anyway, long story short, I cannot hook up my laptop to the projector because of gremlins.
We used to have an ethernet cable that would be long enough to extend from the den into the living room, but my stepbrother's cat thought it would be a tasty snack. So no more lengthy ethernet cable.
(Why they didn't have an ethernet port put into EVERY FRICKIN' ROOM IN THE HOUSE, I will never guess, because they had the house BUILT TO SPEC....)
I just ordered an HDMI cable, which works great from my laptop to my slightly-larger TV (easy-peasy HDMI port on the back, switch with remote), but it's not super-long. There's not enough ethernet length to get from the den to where the computer would need to be to attach the HDMI cable to the projector.
So, yes, gremlins.
I'm done.
Sorry.
Oh, wait, not done. I now am using my Magic Trackpad ONLY, turned off my MBP one because of stupid jumping cursors EURRGHH. And I have my Remote. And my Kindle. My Shousa has become nothing more than a glorified processor...guess I'll have to give her some love later.
stop being stupid trackpad okay
