AKA keeping warm, Japanese-style.

Are you getting cold yet?

I am...

even though it doesn't get that cold here, it still gets cold enough that any extra warmth is appreciated.

Hot water bottles/heating pads/etc are always nice, but I recently tried something that works even better.

What is it?

Well, it's a haramaki, coming from the Japanese words meaning "core" and "wrap", and it's basically a tube for your belly.

Inspired by this website, I decided to try it.

Guess what?

It works really well.

If you'd like to try it out without buying a haramaki, which can be problematic unless you live in Japan, you can MacGyver one out of materials you probably already have.

I made mine out of a scarf (like this one) and four safety pins. Simply secure one end to you, then secure the other side, so that it's not flopping around on you. :P

If you're wearing something really tight, you probably won't want to wear it under your clothes, but under a t-shirt, it's mostly unnoticeable.

Or you could totally rock it outside your clothes.

"This? Oh, you're probably not cool enough to know what this is. It's a haramaki, and that's a Japanese word for hotter-than-you."

Try it!

I'm curious to see if it works for other people, too.

Also, it was pouring for about 5 minutes.
