Killer March is finally over! 4 deadlines over and done with. The past 4 days have been absolutely and fantabulously slack. I believe I've made good on my promise to myself to have a damn good weekend to make up for the last one I lost to hardwork and non-sleep. Spent Thursday and Friday doing nothing more strenous than deciding between design books and laughing my gut out with Jenna, Aaron and Malvin over dinner at Caffebar. If that dinner was anything to go by, Melbourne will be a blast!
Saturday morning was spent at the hands of my regular masseuse who spent all of 80 mins tenderising the week's stress outta me. Went to check out Marie's fashion show yesterday night, which started fashionably late by about an hour. Show was pretty interesting to say the least, first billboard fashion show I've seen anyway. However I still think the best part of the whole experience was watching the models negotiating the barely wide enough ladder up to the billboard in their high heels and all the upskirt shots the photogs were angling for. Still, the service at Loof leaves much to be desired, between the inattentive serving staff, long waits for drinks, wrong bills and slow-to-arrive change. Had dinner after with Pee, JY and Kenneth at Va va voom. The Hue Spicy Beef is still delivers a mean kick to my stomach walls.
Spent the whole of Sunday slacking at home but I did manage to make a trip over to the club for a spot of UV exposure. Unfortunately for me all the UV I got was for the last 20 mins as I lay there all disgruntled and non-tanned. Also, there were too many kids around. Even plugged into my iPod I could still hear the shrill shrieks of the adolescent barbarians with the super-soakers which thankfully for them, weren't fired in my direction otherwise there would've been hell to pay. Sunday afternoon at the club is no time or place for a single woman to enjoy alone time by the pool.
On the otherhand, even though I was only granted 20 mins of glorious sunning, I still partook in the wonderous after-bath effects. How your body feels luxuriously warm from the inside (very different from the warmth induced by alcohol) and light, airy and clean on the outside. The smell of shampoo and soap in your nose and the chill comfort of the air-conditioning while watching the golden sun beat down on hot pavements a few metres from where you are seated. A very hedonistic experience. I couldn't wish for a better end to the week and a nice prelude to the start of a new week of intensive research.
