I'm in Media Law & Ethics right now and am doing my term paper on the FCC. What your article fails to mention is that only once has a broadcaster ever lost their license. Viacom didn't lose any licenses after Janet Jackson's super bowl titty + every single day that Howard Stern was fined + Opie and Anthony going all the time; they were fined 3 mill and their slate was whiped clean (based on what 'could have happened' they got off easy). This article looks to me, in my semi-learned opinion, to be a crock of monolithic horseshit. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. O'Reilly, Hannity and friends will all be free to start all the shit they always have.

It would be a senseless political move to perform anyway. Why divide the nation when you could bolster your image in attempting to unite the parties? It's gorgeous PR after the diplomatic disaster of this decade. He's positioned to do this.

Finally, employment of the local rule wouldn't have much of an impact on the historically conservative south. Martin County will still get conservative radio, certainly. Jacksonville too.
