Homemade yogurt and peach jam with fresh blueberries
For the past few months, my breakfast of choice has regularly been fresh yogurt. Ever since I learned how to
make your own I've been hooked. It took a little mastering, but now it's easy.
Honestly it's as easy as heat non-ultra-pasteurized milk to 185, cool until 115, add yogurt (I froze a batch into ice cubes, and now I just pop one in each time), stir, add to thermos. Then I let it sit for a good 6 hours or overnight and presto! Freshly made yogurt tastes SO much better than what I used to buy, and costs tons less too.
I like to add a teaspoon of jam, or a bit of honey and fresh fruit to make it perfect. I could eat it plain, but I like the fruit in the morning. There is so much wonderful fresh fruit this time of year, it's fun to switch them around. It also comes in handy for tons of dinner and lunch menus. I've really learned to love having it on hand.
