Yesterday I worked from home, which allowed me to make bread BY HAND. I picked up the Tassajara bread book from the library, after seeing it at Green Gulch. I made two loaves of whole wheat bread that turned out really well. Too well, if you ask me! Seriously it was the best wheat bread I've had- well since we had the same bread at Green Gulch! My attempts at making wheat bread in the bread machine have all failed, but this was really really good. Was it the added ingredient of love as the book suggests? Or was it the ton of manual labor?
All I know is that I love it. I even enjoyed making it. But it was too much work, and far too time consuming for me to do it all the time. For now though I'm already looking forward to my minestrone soup and bread I brought for lunch!
