I have loved penguins since 3rd grade. They are really quirky and cute in an endearing way. When I heard about the movie March of the Penguins I was really excited. The fact that the religious right has now latched onto the movie, and using it as part of their arsenal in defence of intelligent design disgusts me.

Speaking of audiences in America's heartland who often feel snubbed by liberal Hollywood, he added: 'This is the first movie they've enjoyed since The Passion of the Christ. This is The Passion of the Penguins.'
