Lily countdown

T minus 9 days and counting...

I am still making progress on my Lily projects. Some days not as much progress as I would like, but I'm still moving. I may be a raving lunatic by the time the event comes around, but that's probably period anyway, right? Raving lunatics presiding over passages of arms? (Just say "Right" and pat me on the head, I'll be fine.)

So here's what I have left to do:
-Hem the kirtle
-Finish applying backing to fur collar and cuffs, apply to gown
-Hem gown
-Hem pennons, sew on ties
-Make hennin
-Dye silk fabric
-Make placket
-Make belt, sew on buckle
-Make favors for defenders
-Replace blue bias tape on Kevin's coif with white
-Make partlet
-Make veil

Oof. All of those tasks individually are pretty small; all together that's a lot. Doing the fur collar and cuffs is taking longer than expected, but I'm probably more than halfway done with applying the fabric backing. My goal for today is to get that done, and get the collar and cuffs sewn onto the gown. Tomorrow I'm going to dye the silk fabric while Tommy's at school, then I can cut out the placket and belt and get working on those. I got buckram at JoAnns so I can make the hennin now. (I was surprised that they had it - I don't think they used to carry it.)

It's a lot of hand work, mostly, which obviously is time consuming. I can do some of this work on the machine, but not all of it. I just don't want to be hemming anything in the car on the way to site on Saturday morning (probably wise since I think I'll be driving). I'm not panicking, yet, exactly, but the amount of work feels pretty daunting.

On the positive side, I'm really jazzed that so many other people seem to be jazzed about this event. I think it's going to be really awesomely cool and I can't wait to see everybody's projects that they've been working on. I know that once it gets going, it's going to be worth all the hard work.

Oh yeah, I still have to clean my house, too. Anybody have a house elf they'd like to loan me for the week?
