Why bother? It's too far away from the village to serve any practical use.

We will use it to increase the distance of the patrols.

Then we will find them. There are many people within the patrols.

If they breach the barrier again, we'll just deal with them the same way we did last time. It worked, didn't it?

We had used the fort last time. The strengthening of it now gives us more time to prepare for such a battle in the desert as well as holding back the enemy when they breach the barrier. Unless you would rather we arrive on the field unprepared and with little provisions.

I don't know about you, but my sword is the only thing I need for preparation.
