♪ | This is a rank of how much he knows you and his opinion thereof, mostly if you've only met him once or twice. Once you move past five of them, you'll move on to the next stage.
1 - He's heard of them in passing, and may not have heard of them in such a good light.
2 - He's heard talk of them and may have spoken to them a few times, forming a better opinion of them.
3 - They may have spoken to him at length about something or the other, and Kratos probably enjoyed the conversation. He has a good view of them.
4 - They're an acquaintance at this point, someone he likes talking to on occasion.
5 - At this point, it won't take long for someone to become a friend to him.

If there was ever a best friend in Kratos' life, Yuan would take that role, wear it proudly, drag it through the mud a few times, then wear it with pride once more. The two of them have been through many rough patches, and there were even times where they tried to kill each other. But through it all, they've pulled through and maintained their close friendship. Yuan is the only person who's been around for most of Kratos' entirely too long life, and for that, he has Kratos' complete trust. He's the one Kratos can count on to talk to about things that they both understand, whether it deals with their views on life, the world of Luceti, or even making light jabs at each other. He counts on Yuan to always be there, whether as his closest friend or a thorn in his side.
Opinion: "I feel as if Yuan is the sole constant companion that I have."

For as long as Kratos has known her, Martel has been patient, kind, and has a sense of calmness around her that can affect anyone. She's a wonderful person, probably one of the ones Kratos respects the most. It's why he went along with Mithos' plans in the first place. Martel seems to be the embodiment of peace, something that Kratos treasures. Not only that, but she's one of his oldest and closest friends, and someone he feels that he can go to for any problem he might have. She earns all of his respect and trust, even if her nose for trouble can be a bit taxing.
Opinion: "I feel fortunate to know a person like her, let alone be considered a friend to her."

At first, Kratos only viewed Colette as an expendable sacrifice, even if she was far too kind for the title. With the journey and Colette's relationship with Lloyd, however brief, though, she's risen from that title and become something of a friend. He still keeps himself guarded around her, which sometimes hurts her, but he's slowly opening up bit by bit. Colette has made it her duty to grow close to him, and though that's about as easy as pulling teeth out of a healthy person's mouth with nothing but pliers, her will is something Kratos admires.
Opinion: "She's truly worthy of the title 'Chosen'."

Bright and wise for his age, Kratos knows that Genis is one of those kids who'll be highly successful in the world they grow up in. Despite the fact that he's a half-elf, he's willing to learn many new things, and that thirst for knowledge will make him go places. Kratos has a high respect for him in that regard, and he's willing to try and guide Genis onto the right path. But at this point, he still mostly considers Genis 'Lloyd's friend' and nothing more.
Opinion: "A valuable friend to Lloyd, considering it's the only reason he's passed school."

Kratos already identified with Raine during the Journey of Regeneration, what with the two of them being the only level heads adults in the group. Their time in Luceti has proved that they match as close friends. Kratos enjoys conversing with her and sharing deep philosophies with her. He feels that she understands the way of the world as he sees it. He's definitely closest to her out of all of the party, not counting Lloyd, and he trusts her with a lot of things. Except with cooking.
Opinion: "Raine... She is a companion I feel I can count on."

Sheena is the one person who's been by Kratos' side since he arrived in Luceti. They've experienced all of the experiments and kidnappings together, and through it, they've grown a little closer. They talked to each other, they've saved each other's lives, they've even experienced death. Sheena is at Raine's level when it comes to friendship, although he'll likely never tell her everything about himself. But he'd like to keep her as one of his companions.
Opinion: "Soldiers at war tend to develop close bonds with each other."

Both of them despise each other for the type of people that they are, although there's that begrudging acceptance that they have plenty of right to feel that way. Since their time in Luceti, they've helped each other a couple of times, and thus they always seem to "owe each other one". But they'll likely never regard each other as friends.
Opinion: "Idiot Chosen."

In the beginning, Kratos saw her as one of Lloyd's friends who happened to show what Anna could've become. He never conversed with her since the creators were lazy save for when he asked about the Sacred Wood, and thus he never formed a bond with her. In Luceti, however, Kratos has taken it upon himself to look after her and make sure she's receiving the proper treatment. He hasn't had an ideal conversation with her, but the fact that he wants to save her is a testament that such a thing doesn't matter. Or it could just be that he's learning from Lloyd. Either way, he awaits the day when her soul returns to her.
Opinion: "No one should be allowed to go through such a cruel process ever again."

The oldest in Lloyd's group of friends, both in terms of age and mentality. It's because of that and other similarities that Kratos feels he can relate to the man. Regal seems to see it, too, for he takes his time to talk to Kratos, even if it's just casual conversation. They haven't had any particularly deep conversations, but Kratos enjoys it all the same. The fact that Regal sees how Kratos and Lloyd are like each other makes the former feel a little awkward in that fail!dad sense, but he deeply appreciates the sentiment all the same.
Opinion: "The few of Lloyd's friends that I truly feel I can relate to."

The fact that Emil's body houses the soul of Ratatosk causes Kratos to view him warily no matter what he does. He understands that Emil is different from the ancient spirit, and he has some hope that that personality can overcome it... But his hopes aren't too high. Kratos seems to be waiting for the day when Ratatosk completely overwhelms Emil and wrecks havoc, but he certainly doesn't want it to happen. Not only because of the world being screwed and all, but also for Emil's sake. As for Emil himself, Kratos recognizes that he's a good kid, but he thinks he should straighten his back and get a spine.
Opinion: "Ratatosk."

In the beginning, Kratos viewed Svala as a close friend who seemed to know him better than anyone else thanks to her ability. As time progressed, he started to think more of her, and in his eyes, she became one of the most beautiful human beings, in body and in spirit, that he's ever met. The two of them begun a relationship some time ago, and though Svala left for months, leaving Kratos closed off to the rest of the world, they happily picked it back up when she returned. Kratos thinks the world of Svala, and he'll do anything within his power to keep her safe and happy, even if it means someday returning to her world once more. He feels that he may be digging a bit too deep into this... but at the same time, he doesn't particularly care.
Also, she's extremely hard to resist giving affection to, even in public. And she's an excellent kisser.
Opinion: "I wish to stay with her... for as long as I'm allowed to be."
