[Wonders upon wonders, Kratos is outside. He's sitting beneath Ammy's cherry tree, deep in thought as he occasionally writes something in the journal that rests in his lap. Not the one used for communication, mind you; that one lies open on the side of the tree in case there's something he needs to hear. In a basket beside him are various pieces

[Mrs. Coulter watches from a distance, her daemon in her arms.]

[salvationfound]

[For now, Kratos doesn't notice her. Instead, he looks off to the side, hums a line from the song, and then writes again.]

[aureatus]

[The monkey looks at her inquiringly, and she nods. It jumps from her arms and approaches Kratos.]

[salvationfound]

[The skitter of the monkey's paws catches his enhanced hearing, and thus he glances up from his work to watch the monkey curiously. What's it doing?]

[aureatus]

[It doesn't stop until it is by his side, peering over whatever he is writing.]

[salvationfound]

[And he'll just stare down at it with a little frown, tightening his grip on the journal in case it decides to steal it. Kratos and animals don't exactly get along. Except for Noishe, that is.]

[aureatus]

[At that, Mrs. Coulter follows her daemon till she stands across Kratos' sitting form.]

I apologize for my daemon. His curiosity gets the better of him sometimes.

[salvationfound]

[He looks up at her, though he glances at the monkey every now and then.]

Your daemon?

[aureatus]

Yes. In my world, each human being has a daemon.

[salvationfound]

[A pet? Or is it something more? If every human has one, then it must be the latter.]

I see. I suppose curiosity gets the better out of most of us.

[aureatus]

You seem preoccupied.

[salvationfound]

I am in the middle of a project of sorts.

[aureatus]

Is it a private matter?

[salvationfound]

Not particularly... I simply cannot find a reason for my actions.

[aureatus]

What do you mean?

I am creating something for someone... and yet I am not.
