I like how you seem to slide the important little details in. I wish I could explain that better. Like, when you mentioned Spock having not aged. You just sort of slipped it in, and it didnt' detract from the emotional side of the fic, but it helped to realize how much time had passed.

Jim's shock is very realistic. Yeah, things like that just aren't supposed to happen to the ones we love.
