Damn, typed up before I caught your edit!

As to the backstory itself... There's a few things that all merged together to be how it is. 1) I adore Pike/George as part of Pike's backstory (who happens to be my other big ST muse), and I mean very much them as a couple sort of thing, and thinking as Pike, I don't know how much I would verbally say about the relationship/connection I had with this kid's father. The picture speaks volumes of friendship, and he knows Jim is a genius... that the connection is inferred through the picture. 2) Also thinking as Pike, how much more then what what is said (the script gives us) would Pike want to push Jim's father on him? 3) Its hard-core Jim's POV, who has some serious daddy-issues, but the POV keeps me from revealing too much of what Pike's thinking. Knowing that connection is... well, I can't give it away, as part of it is revealed in the next chapter. XD

I was deeply torn on how to do this scene (I must have re-written it at least three times) because of how to infer the relationship between Pike/George, how much should I let it affect what I was going for (sticking with the script), and how much Pike would push it on Jim who is clearly not liking the mentions of his father.

I just rambled, a lot. I hope it all made sense. ^^;

A P.P.S to the P.S. - I really need to write up my concept of P/G's back story at some point... *chin-stroking pondery face*

Ah, you totally should keep the scene as it is! I know how hard it is to get scenes right for everyone (practically impossible). and there are only so many re-writes one can bear. Please, just keep it :)))
