Brag brag brag.

Hey, I don't do it often, and for once I have reason to brag about things.

  • I have started martial arts (henceforth known as taijutsu) classes again. I am v. excited about this. Ninjaing ftw! I've been going for two weeks now, and am signed up for classes until the end of the semester.

  • I have picked up Al-Anon meetings again, because I got stuck in a rut and feel like I need some help getting out. I've also been going to Al-Anon meetings for two weeks (first one was the day before my first taijutsu class of the semester).
  • I have been getting my ass in gear over transition. This includes working out and practicing my female voice (which I did for an hour in the bath tonight). It's slow going, but I'm trying to focus on going one day at a time instead of getting overwhelmed with "I have to do it all at once, so I'm not going to do it at all".
  • On the previous note, my friend Nicole bought me a book for Christmas called "The Now Habit". It talks about how to deal with procrastination, and it's the first procrastination-beating book I've ever read that addresses why people procrastinate and how to deal with those root issues rather than just saying "make a plan, even though you know damn well you're not going to stick with it anyway".

  • Another business analyst posting has opened at work. My three biggest competitors for the job have already gotten other positions. I'm hopeful. Also had a wonderful conversation with the hiring manager for said posting; it looks like he and I have a lot more in common than I thought. This is an excellent thing, because it means that a) if I work for him he'll be understanding of my habits, and b) even if I don't work for him I can get advice on surviving the corporate world.
All in all, things are going pretty well. With some work on my part and a little luck, they'll stay that way.

taijutsu, work, transition
