Perpetual music

There is no sound in the world more beautiful than waves crashing. No music, no animal, no voice, no man-made thing.... nothing compares.

It's the sound of longing
of sorrow
of lazy joy.
It's the sound of fighting
and of peace.

Little waves at low tide look oily in the dim glow of the moon behind clouds. Nothing is more beautiful.
You be the sea and I'll be the sky
Endeavor with me now don't wonder why

As I was walking over the ramp, inhaling the aroma of sea salt, sea oats and sand, I listened to the waves crashing, which I continued to hear almost all the way home. The sound of crickets mixed with it delightfully. Waves breaking closer to the pavillion about a mile away echoed like wind, though there was no movement in the perfect air. It's overcast tonight, but when the moon broke through the clouds it was like daylight. I realized I spent four years not enjoying a full moon. Nashville's city lights prevent it. It's good to be home. I suppose I have a tradition now of going to the beach every midnight during a full moon.
Then I walked down 10th street toward my house, and passed the crazy lady. I'm not sure what the hell was going on with her hair, but sho wore a gauzy-looking skirt with a white shirt and denim blouse over it, with brown cowboy boots. And walking to the beach, apparently. Tybee is so weird.

In other news, I may begin writing a column on Tybee's weirdness for a sort-of local publication... it targets the Coastal Empire states, at least. I also have to do my photo journal of the Whale thing at the Marine Science Center for the Island Living News. AND, I will receive my first paycheck for copywriting tomorrow, and my first paycheck for freelance newspaper stuff sometime this week!

Damn the full moon and my insomnia....
