I met up with an oldtime friend today. I'd stopped by my friend's store on my way home and she, her mom, her sister's two kids (Kassandra and Ryan), and another lady, Deena, were revamping the store, putting up new decorations. I stopped and worked with them. At one point, Trish, who I hadn't seen in two years, came in the store with her boyfriend, James.

We talked for a moment about everything - life in general, and our eyes flickered as we spoke. She asked me about my life and what I've been doing and I gave an outline and then talked about one specific time, telling the story of it as it came to me, and midway through, she mentioned how something I'd just said happened to her too. I'd just included it as a step to keep the story without plot holes; she felt it as I said it. Like the sudden turn sloping backwards on a crochet hook, the conversation changed direction, broke a wave's momentum in just a moment. Bubbles crashed peacefully... we shared how we felt in it and connected there.

I get so used to things in the country being vibrant, always changing conversation, or flying straight through and concentrating to the end, like a knitting needle.

Trish and I, we'd talk on the bus in high school; she'd come by my radio station and love it. Sweet and energetic in this way I can never place.

She's going to come by the store sometimes, just to hope I'm around. Haha. She surprises me, and I really like her. I think it's cute that she and James are dating. Both of them are amazing.
